On Monday, Nov. 13’s episode of The Young and the Restless, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) admits the truth to his father. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) learns that he was plotting revenge. That serves to vindicate Victor having faked a mental decline to flush out a traitor.

Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) should be relieved Victor fired him. The closed Newman family circle, combined with Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) rough relationship history, indicates that Nate should rejoin his family at Chancellor-Winters and likely end his personal connection to her. It also feels like the Mustache telegraphed his intentions when selling his portion of CW to Mamie Johnson (Veronica Redd) so she could provide a soft landing for Nate.

The Chief Operating Officer spot is open at Newman Enterprises. While Victor has offered Adam a second chance, he is not necessarily going to install him as COO. Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) is contemplating another return to the fold, and neutralizing Adam being part of his calculation. But the entire Newman family’s distraction is contrasted with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) being lured into

a trap by her poser assistant, Claire Grace (Hayley Erin).

What happened today on The Young and the Restless? (Nov. 13)

Regret is an element in daytime. Victoria is trending hard in that direction after jousting with her mother. Nikki is lambasted for remaining silent about Victor’s faked health scare. Claire exploits the tension when telling Nikki about her aunt Jordan’s broken arm and supposedly needing for her.

The audience understands the suspension of disbelief. So, accepting that Nikki just so happens to want to pay a surprise visit to her sister, Casey Reed (Roberta Leighton), helps push the plot. Nikki’s trip to California will include her agreeing to take Claire to Oregon.

Having Claire convince Nikki to stop with her, before taking the Newman jet to see her sister, is a stretch. But how else would Nikki be coerced to visit a remote location where she will be injected with a needle? Victor encourages his wife to take the trip, not suspecting danger is ahead. Such is life in the soapy world.

It would seem that Erin’s second run on Y&R will be short-lived. It is always possible that Claire recovers from kidnapping Nikki. But she would need to be under the forced control of someone nefarious, with Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) initial gaslighting of Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) used as a marker. Of course, Victor was the diabolical puppeteer in that instance.

Nick learns about Chance Chancellor’s (Conner Floyd) shooting and Summer Newman Abbott’s (Allison Lanier) link to him through Sharon. They discuss his consideration of returning to work for Victor, with Sharon giving him the go-ahead if he feels it is best. Nick later crosses paths with Adam in the hallway at Newman Towers but purposely does not reveal his career decision, citing the contempt he has for his younger brother, and later discussed his career dilemma with Victoria at the Neil Winters’ (Kristoff St. John) jazz lounge while their mother’s life is soon imperiled across the country.
