For Doctor Who‘s 60th anniversary, the show is giving fans three new specials, beginning with “The Star Beast” on Nov. 25, 2023. This episode is adapted from the comic Doctor Who and the Star Beast, and will focus on a character previously never shown in live action: Meep the Beep.

In addition to its primary focus, “The Star Beast” is expected to contribute to the two primary questions of the anniversary specials: Why did the Doctor regenerate into David Tennant? And what does Donna Noble have to do with it?

The cast and crew of Doctor Who have done their best to keep as many secrets as possible surrounding the anniversary specials. While major returning characters have been announced (likely out of fear that they would otherwise be leaked), it is entirely possible that there will be more familiar faces than fans expect.

“The Star Beast” cast

The main characters for all three anniversary specials are the Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant) and Donna Noble (Catherine Tate).

Alongside them, Donna’s family will be roped into the drama, including: her mother Sylvia (Jacqueline King), her grandfather Wilf (Bernard Cribbins), her husband Shaun Temple (Karl Collins), and her daughter Rose (Yasmin Finney).

Miriam Margolyes has been confirmed as the voice of the Meep. Per Doctor Who Magazine, Dara Lall will be playing a character named Fudge.

However, all other cast members are currently a mystery.

UNIT will be an important part of the anniversary specials, but it is currently unknown whether they will be in all three episodes or not. Whenever they do appear, expect to see Jemma Redgrave reprising her role as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart alongside newcomer Alexander Dervrient, who plays Colonel Ibrahim.

Other possible cast members include:

  • John MacKay as John Logie Baird (Per Doctor Who Magazine, November 2023)
  • Charlie De Melo as Charles Banerjee (Per Doctor Who Magazine, November 2023)
  • Ruth Madeley as Shirley Anne Bingham (per the BBC)
  • Bonnie Langford as Melanie Bush (per IMDb)

Doctor Who “The Star Beast” premieres on BBC and Disney+ on Nov. 25, 2023.
