Filming on SWAT season 7 is underway! Star Shemar Moore posted to his Instagram Stories a picture of himself in character with the caption “Viva Mexico #SWAT Season 7.” Details are still under wraps on what’s set to happen in the show’s final season. However, Makeup Department Head Anna Fleiner has been documenting the shoot on her Instagram.

Production on the season premiere is currently taking place in Mexico. Moore, Anna Enger Ritch (Zoe Powell), Patrick St. Espirit (Robert Hicks), and a new to the series actor Luis De La Costa–in a self-described “small co-star” role as Emil Peralta (according to IMDb)–are on location to film.

SWAT season 7 premieres Friday, Feb. 16, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET ahead of the season premieres of Fire Country and Blue Bloods. While the majority of CBS’ midseason line-up will be receiving 10-13 episode season runs due to production delays caused by the Hollywood strikes, this procedural was always going to consist of 13 episodes for its final run. This was decided after the network reversed its decision to end the series after season 6.

A series finale date hasn’t been announced for SWAT yet, however, the show is expected to conclude its run in May 2024. Given Bob Hearts Abishola and Young Sheldon are ending the week of May 13, the procedural drama could finale on May 17 but this isn’t confirmed.

Season 6 ended with Hondo proposing to Nichelle, so we will see the two marry at some point in the final season. We wouldn’t rule out the wedding happening in the series finale as a big send off for the beloved drama. We’ll keep you posted as more news comes in about the show’s last episode.
