3 potential ways Young Sheldon season 7 could end

I wish I could shout, “Bazinga!,” when talking about the fact that Young Sheldon is coming to an end. But unfortunately, it is our reality. Though we do have some time to come to terms with the fact that our favorite show is concluding. There’s still a number of things we need to see before the show ends, including some more Big Bang voice cameos. Though we’re also thinking about how Young Sheldon season 7 could come to a close.

We have three potential theories as to how Young Sheldon season 7 will end – Sheldon heads off to Caltech, Georgie and Mandy’s wedding, or the dreaded storyline of George’s infidelity and death. It’s of course not known what course of action the series will take. Perhaps the writers will surprise us with a whole other ending we didn’t think of!

As we wait for the debut of the new season on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, we’re diving into some predictions. Scroll down for the details!

Sheldon heads to Caltech

According to The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon begins his graduate studies at Caltech when he’s 14 years old. Right now on the prequel, it’s hard to say how old he is exactly. Though he and Missy should be around 13-14 years old. Or at least he’ll be turning the big 1-4 soon. Knowing just how much the young genius is focused on his studies, how science is the most important thing to him, and the very first episode starting with Sheldon’s first day in high school at just nine years old, it would definitely make sense and give the show a full circle moment for Young Sheldon season 7 to end with our favorite titular character heading off to the very school where he’ll work for the rest of his career and make his closest friends. This is why the age of 14 was a big turning point for Sheldon, as well as what happens with his father (more on that below).

Georgie and Mandy get married

Georige and Mandy’s relationship has definitely been up and down since her character was introduced in season 5. But now, they have baby Constance and are officially engaged! So is a happy ending in store for them? Another great way the series could come to a close is on a happy note with Georgie and Mandy getting married, which executive producers have confirmed we will see in Young Sheldon season 7. There’s nothing sweeter than a wedding, and at least the whole Cooper family could be there. Plus with a potential Mandy and Georgie spin-off in the works, this would make sense.

Maybe we end the series on the festivities, with Sheldon leaving for Caltech the following day or week, or whatever passing of time. You get the idea. Then it’s basically killing two birds with one stone! Whether the show decides to stick to Georgie getting married three times is a different story. Though Young Sheldon has veered away from strictly sticking to canon. Georgie and Mandy have been through a lot, and Georgie has really grown as a person. They both deserve to be happy.

George cheats on Mary and his death

While this storyline would be a much sadder one to end on, it is unfortunately still possible the show will conclude with George’s cheating and death storylines. The show's EPs have also confirmed this storyline is coming too. We know from The Big Bang Theory that the patriarch of the family cheats on Mary when Sheldon is about 13 years old. He catches his father in the act when opening the door without knocking. And this is why an adult Sheldon always knocks three times. Then about a year later, George dies and Sheldon goes to Caltech. Which is why I said 14 is a big transition year for the intellectual teen.

If the prequel series decides to adapt this story, it could go three ways: the comedy-drama could either choose to play this out in the 14 episodes it has in Young Sheldon season 7, hint at it happening, or ignore it all together. We’ll have to wait and see. But as a fan of the show and George himself, it’s definitelly not a storyline I want to see.
