Leave the World Behind and what to watch on Netflix this week (Dec. 4)

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere we go! We’re three weeks from Christmas, and I am happy. Like we do each and every week, we’re sharing all the best Netflix movies and shows debuting beginning the week of Dec. 4, 2023.

For those who have been watching Squid Game: The Challenge the season finale is upon us, and we will find out who will take home the big cash prize. The twists and turns have kept me fully invested in what has transpired throughout the season. I want to see how the show ends and who will win. The finale drops on Netflix Dec. 6.

What to watch on Netflix

• My Life with the Walter Boys, Dec. 7
• Leave the World Behind, Dec. 8

Following the loss of her family, 15-year-old Jackie Howard has to learn to adapt to life in Colorado with her new guardian and eight boys in the Netflix original series My Life with the Walter Boys. As Jackie struggles to adapt to her new life with a house full of boys, her goal of making it to Princeton is still at the forefront of her mind. However, as she navigates this new life many obstacles stand in her way possibly halting her dream from coming true.

Leave the World Behind made its debut at the 2023 AFI Film Festival, and I was able to catch the premiere, which I really enjoyed. The film follows a family on vacation who are interrupted by two strangers with bad news of a blackout. As things worsen around them, they must deal with their own internal issues as the world collapses. The film stars Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, and Myha’la Herrold. It’s the perfect little mystery in the same vein as Birdbox, and I expect the masses to enjoy this one.
