Updated: Dec. 6, 2023 – There are a few shows that we’re eager to see return. One of those is SEAL Team. It’s a show that remains pretty true to events that could happen to SEALs, thanks to the consultants in the writers’ room. It’s just also one of those shows that didn’t perform too well in the linear ratings.

The good news is the delayed ratings were there. So, when it came down to it, Paramount+ picked up the show instead of it being canceled. It’s had a good run on the streamer so it’s going to be hard to say goodbye to the show next year but that’s what’s set to happen in 2024.

News broke in November that SEAL Team would be coming to an end with its seventh season. It was also reported that the standalone movie that had been announced wouldn’t be moving forward. An official release date has yet to be announced but filming is set to commence sometime in December. Production was reportedly going to start sometime in the spring of 2023 or mid-2023, but that start date was pushed back because of the strikes.

Despite getting a renewal back in January 2023, the writing wasn’t completed before the WGA strike started. In July 2023, the actors’ union, SAG-AFTRA, also went on strike, so even if the scripts were done and production was ready to begin, it wouldn’t have happened because the actors weren’t working. The AMPTP has made a deal with the WGA and SAG unions, so productions are getting underway for TV and film.

SEAL Team season 7 will have a total of ten episodes. Just like all the other seasons, we’ll likely see the team deal with individual missions to start with. There may be some multi-episode storylines as the sixth season delivered. This shows more of what the teams need to go through when they are sent into dangerous situations without anyone knowing what they’re up to, or that they’re even there.

Then there are the personal storylines. We’ve got a lot going on in this with growing families, the grieving process, and trusting new team members. Jason’s TBI is likely to come up more, as he spent some time hiding it and now it is out in the open.

The only cast member from season 6 guaranteed not to return is Max Thieriot. Clay Spencer was sadly killed off during the sixth season due to Thieriot’s Fire Country getting picked up. Fortunately, that series was also renewed so he’s not completely out of a job.

We do expect to see the following to return:

  • David Boreanaz as Jason Hayes
  • Neil Brown Jr. as Ray Perry
  • A. J. Buckley as Sonny Quinn
  • Raffi Barsoumian as Omar Hamza
  • Toni Trucks as Lisa Davis
  • Judd Lormand as Eric Blackburn
  • Parisa Fakhri as Naima Perry
  • Justin Melnick as Brock

Could we see Alana Tal return as Stella? This is possible despite Clay’s death. It would give viewers a chance to see what it’s really like for the grieving widow. The first season had a chance to show this, but didn’t really give us that opportunity in full because it was just the start of the series. Stella is more of an established character at this point to show what it’s like, especially with a baby.
