Station 19 rides out for a final run with season 7 in March 2024
The end is nigh for Station 19. ABC has confirmed the upcoming seventh season is going to be the last.
We know all good things must come to an end. That doesn’t mean we have to like it. We’re saying goodbye to another Shondaland series in 2024. It’s all about the firefighter drama, Station 19.
This is somewhat of a surprise considering the ratings. The series kicks off TGIT well, and it’s hard to imagine Grey’s Anatomy without its firefighter spin-off. At least there is room to bring some of the characters into Grey’s Anatomy should they be needed for the writing.
When will Station 19 Season 7 end?
The seventh season is set to premiere in March. ABC announced premiere dates with the majority of shows returning in February. However, the TGIT lineup won’t be back until Thursday, March 14. Station 19 will wrap up the night this time, airing at 10/9c after 911 and Grey’s Anatomy.
It looks like it will be a 10-episode season, wrapping things up in May 2024. The finale is being written as a series finale. TVLine reports that the whole reason to make the decision early was to ensure the series got the goodbye that it deserves.
This is a series that tends to end its seasons on a cliffhanger. Just look at season 6’s finale with Jack’s life on the line. There’s no way fans can have a series finale like that, even with Grey’s Anatomy around to wrap up the story.
What about the medical drama? Well, for now, it looks like the plan is to keep Grey’s Anatomy going. The series did get a rebirth with the new interns in season 19. Even the loss of Meredith Grey didn’t affect the series too much in a negative way.
Station 19 will see Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige take over as showrunners for the series. Krista Vernoff stepped down after taking it over during the third season.
Station 19 season 7 premieres on Thursday, March 14 at 10/9c on ABC.
