The 911 season 10 trailer has finally arrived! It already looks so exciting, especially after we already discovered it would involve a volcano. What do we know so far based on the trailer?
Based on the synopsis of the first episode, titled “That Sinking Feeling,” there will be a lot of new changes for the characters as they deal with “an earth-shattering emergency that shakes the city of Los Angeles to its core.” Plus, Angela Bassett’s Athena Grant is in the midst of a new case while her daughter, May (Corinne Massiah), begins her new job as a nurse.
911 season 10 continues its premiere tradition of opening with a crazy disaster
As previously reported, the 911 crew will be busy dealing with a volcano that was revealed after a sinkhole appears in the city. Luckily, this time, the entire team will be on planet Earth to deal with the catastrophe. However, one person will be underground, and who else could it possibly be?
The trailer opened with Athena appearing to go underground, calling out for someone as she searches for something. However, it looks like she will get stuck when her daughter, May, cannot get into contact with her.
In the meantime, the city of Los Angeles is dealing with a volcanic-sized emergency, as lava begins spewing onto the street. Having responded to a 911 caller, Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Maddie Han remarks that there is no protocol for dealing with volcanic activity.
The 118 also have their hands full, as they have to try to help victims while not falling into the lava itself. One scene shows them jumping over cars, and in one clip, we see Ryan Guzman’s Eddie Diaz holding onto a dog. Even Maddie’s husband, Fire Captain Howie “Chimney” Han, remarks that "the floor is lava” as they struggle to help people in the midst of the disaster.
Actor Oliver Stark has been shown with an ankle injury behind the scenes, and it appears he hurt himself, although it's not officially confirmed how, and there is a possibility a stunt was involved in the injury. He was also seen on crutches in a behind-the-scenes photo posted by his castmate Aisha Hinds on her Instagram story. So we’ll have to see if his injury is written into the show and if it has anything to do with the premiere episodes.
Based on show history, we’re expecting the opening to happen in three parts, which makes sense. They usually use the premiere episode to rehash where everyone has been since the last time we saw them, and then the emergency happens at the end. So we’ll get to see what the characters have been doing since the end of season 9.
For now, though, the 118 will have to figure out how to get past the lava and also rescue Athena Grant. At least they have the chance of getting to her, unlike last season’s opener when they were all basically sitting ducks.
911 season 10 premieres on ABC on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 8/7c.
