911 season 8 won't air a new episode tonight, Jan. 9, 2025 (What about a rerun?)

While some TV shows return from their winter breaks this week, 911 season 8 isn't one of them. Can we watch a rerun tonight, Thursday, Jan. 9?

9-1-1 -ÒWannabesÓ - Things get messy for the 118 following a massive pipe explosion. We are certainly more than ready to see our favorite shows return from their winter breaks. There’s some bad news when it comes to 911 season 8.

While many ABC shows are back or premiering this week, that’s not the case for 911 season 8. There will not be a new episode of the series on tonight, Thursday, Jan. 9. This is going to turn out to be a good thing for the show, although the lengthy break does seem disappointing right now.

What’s on ABC tonight instead?

That means there’s a rerun, though, right? After all, most networks will put on reruns of their shows while waiting for the returns. That’s not happening with the TGIT block.

ABC has opted for different programming throughout this length TGIT break. The first slot of the night will be taken up by a new episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin continue to work on making over homes to turn them into the dream places to live for the residents.

After that, we’ll get a night of Only Murders in the Building drama, which is great if you want something fun and twisty at the same time. It’s just not 911, right?

When will 911 return with new episodes?

There is some bad news for those waiting for the show’s return. We won’t get new episodes until Thursday, March 6. This was something we were warned about going into the fall finale, but it doesn’t make the news any easier when we see other great shows make their returns.

The wait is going to turn out to be a good thing, though. When the series returns, there won’t be as many weeks left until May, which is when the finales traditionally air. This means limited breaks in the schedule. In fact, if the schedule is planned just right, there won’t be any breaks at all. A lot of other shows will need to have an on-off schedule from January to May!

911 season 8 returns with new episodes on Thursday, March 6. You can watch previous episodes on Hulu.
