Uh, is anyone else just in complete denial of what happened in last week's episode of Abbott Elementary season 4? I mean, how could Ava be fired? What's the school going to look like without Principal Coleman around? I think when the show first started, us as an audience and the staff themselves never thought we'd miss Ava or want her to continue being principal.
But despite Ava still being Ava, she's also grown a lot and and proved that she is capable of running the school in her own way. Now, that's going to change! As co-showurnner Justin Halpern told The Wrap, yes it was a selfless act. But, Ava also thought that she'd just be suspended for a week and then come back. So she didn't mind taking the fall at that point. Unfortunately, and I hate to say this, it may have been better for one of the teachers to take the blame because that's exactly what would have happened instead of Ava being let go.
Man, they were so close to getting away with it! However as the co-showrunners have reassured us, this isn't the end of Ava or Janelle James. The character and actress are still going to be a part of the show going forward. Phew! I wonder if we'll see what she's up to next in a new episode this week.
Abbott Elementary season 4 episode 19, "Music Class," premieres Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC, as well as on Hulu the next day. I mean, I love tuning in to the comedy every week. What happens now without Principal Ava at Abbott Elementary?
With Ava now gone, there's definitely going to be a change at the school. Things have been working a certain way with her in charge. Who's going to take up the role next, and will this new principal be good or a pain for the staff? Plus, the district is taking away all the stuff Abbott has gotten from the golf course, and the money they received at the district budget meeting. This will put the school back on a very tight budget. Check out what else is in store in the synopsis below:
"Barbara and Gregory are in over their heads when they find themselves in new roles at Abbott Elementary."
Well with the title of Abbott Elementary season 4 episode 19 being "Music Class" and the description teasing Barbara's new role, we can safely assume that's talking about the music class she's going to take over as we saw at the end of lat week's episode. What I'm most intrigued by though is Gregory's new role. At the start of the series, he came in wanting to be principal but didn't get the chance to. And though he followed his calling as a teacher, perhaps now will be his chance?
It's so bittersweet to think about because I feel like Gregory definitely deserves it and I would love to see that for him. But, we've also grown to love Ava and her silly antics and unorthodox way of leading the school. Gah, this plot twist is so good and plays with our emotions so well!
