As Boston Blue season 1 comes to a close, fans can look forward to seeing two familiar faces from Blue Bloods dropping in for the closing hour of the season!

Throughout the first season of Boston Blue, the creative team has found ways to bring back several key members from the Blue Bloods cast with appearances from Bridget Moynahan (Erin Reagan-Boyle), Len Cariou (Henry Reagan), and Marisa Ramirez (Maria Baez). It’s been a fun way to honor the legacy of the original show, and it’s proven to be a real treat when original cast members have dropped in to reprise their roles in the spinoff.

We thought we’d seen the last of the season’s Blue Bloods cameo, as there was no mention of any surprise returns for the Boston Blue season 1 finale; however, it seems there are two familiar faces dropping in for the closing hour of the season!

Ramirez will return as Baez in the season 1 finale, marking her fifth appearance this season and her first return to the show since episode 15, “For Those Who Weren’t Heard.” The episode was a difficult one for Danny and Baez fans, as it brought about the couple’s breakup due to the strain of their long-distance relationship. The moment was one that broke the hearts of fans who had waited seasons for the longtime partners’ relationship to develop into something more.

The breakup was amicable, with both Danny and Baez realizing it was likely the best call, which gave fans hope that perhaps the pair would find their way back to each other. With Ramirez confirmed to return in the season 1 finale, it seems fans have renewed hope for the couple to get back together before the season comes to an end.

Little is known about the circumstances of Baez’s return, but if the photo below from the episode in which we see Danny embracing Baez in a side hug is any indication, it looks like the pair might get a happy ending to close out the season.

The Boston Blue season 1 finale will also welcome back Will Hochman as Detective Joe Hill, marking his first appearance on the spinoff.

CBS has kept the details surrounding Hochman’s return under wraps with no mention of Joe in the finale synopsis, but we did get our first look at his return in a newly released promo for the finale. In the promo, Joe is helping Danny and Sean set the dinner table as he asks his uncle if he’s sure the Silver family won’t mind him crashing dinner.

It seems likely that a case Joe was working will tie into the dangerous investigation at the heart of the finale, and his return is sure to bring some fun moments. After all, the finale will see Danny suiting up in the Boston Police Department patrol uniform for his final initiation into the BPD, which means Joe will outrank him on any fieldwork—something we’re certain Danny will struggle with.

Regardless of the circumstances, it’s incredible to see the show bringing Joe into the mix and sneaking in a few additional Blue Bloods returns to celebrate the final episode of Boston Blue season 1! The show has done a brilliant job of crafting storylines that allow for cameos, and there is no doubt that they've cooked up some fun plot lines to bring Baez and Joe to Boston.

Don't miss the Boston Blue season finale. when it airs Friday, May 22 at 10/9c on CBS.
