Preparations are being made for Boston Blue's first on-screen wedding!
According to co-showrunner Brandon Sonnier, Sarah Silver (Maggie Lawson) and Seth Yates (Mike Vogel) will walk down the aisle. The couple got engaged in the season 1 finale of Boston Blue, and Sonnier has confirmed that the show will eventually see the marriage through.
"When people get engaged, that generally leads to a wedding," Sonnier told TVLine. "So, I don't think it's spoiling anything to say that, yes, that's what we're moving toward." However, Sarah and Seth's journey to the altar won't be without complications.
"As with most things in life, it doesn't exactly go down the way it's planned," Sonnier warned.
Trouble lies ahead for Sarah and Seth
Sonnier hasn't offered details about the complications Sarah and Seth will run into before their wedding, but we can make a few guesses.
Boston Blue recently cast CSI alum Marg Helgenberger as Sarah's mom in season 2. The character, named Gail, has a strained relationship with Sarah. In season 1, Sarah talked about how messy her parents' divorce was. Gail tried to sabotage Sarah's relationship with her father due to her own anger and bitterness. As a result, the two haven't spoken in years.
Gail's arrival will undoubtedly impact Sarah emotionally, and not necessarily in a good way. She hasn't seen Gail in years, so her visit will be shocking, to say the least. It might even bring up feelings and memories Sarah's kept buried. Not to mention, it will cause quite the stir among the Silver family. They are a tight unit, and who knows what will happen when a stranger threatens to disrupt that.
Perhaps more importantly, the chaos of Gail's visit might strain Sarah's relationship with Seth. It's unclear how much she has told him about her mother and their history. Seth will most likely want to support Sarah in any way he can, but that might put more pressure on her.
On top of Sarah's personal issues, she has an extremely demanding job that requires focus and strong leadership. The same goes for Seth. As a result, it could be hard for the two to find time in the midst of Gail's arrival and wedding planning to spend time together. How are you supposed to set a wedding date when you can't even find time for date night?
Here's hoping that Sarah and Seth are able to cut threw the noise and make it down the aisle.
Boston Blue season 2 premieres Friday, Oct. 9, at 10/9c on CBS.
