Boston Blue is welcoming back another Blue Bloods face that will add something special to a case!
As expected for a spin-off, Boston Blue has had a few actors from Blue Bloods dropping by. The show has become a hit as Donnie Wahlberg reprises his role as Detective Danny Reagan, now moving to Boston and becoming a cop there to keep an eye on his son Sean (Mika Amonsen).
The pilot episode had Bridget Moynahan guest-starring as Erin Reagan, helping Danny after Sean was shot in the line of duty and supporting her brother. TV Insider now has details on how Moynahan will be coming back in the May 1st episode.
The title “L’dor Vador” may be a hint at the plotline, as it’s a Hebrew phrase that translates to “from generation to generation.” Given how both Blue Bloods and Boston Blue are about generations of cops, it’s a fitting title.
The episode’s logline reads, “When a captured serial killer hints at the whereabouts of a missing child, Danny teams up with a familiar ally in a tense race against time. Meanwhile, health scares and long‑kept family secrets surface, forcing members of the team to confront personal truths.”
It’s a safe bet Erin is the ally mentioned, as Danny needs his sister’s expertise on the law to figure this situation out. Perhaps the killer has a connection to New York, requiring Erin’s insight to find out the truth.
While she only appeared on camera in the pilot, Moynahan did direct episode 8 of the first season to continue the Blue Bloods connections. Will they grow in Boston Blue season 2?

Moynahan isn’t the first Blue Bloods actor to pop up on Boston Blue. The pilot revealed that Danny and his NYPD partner, Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) were now in a relationship. Baez dropped by in a later episode to help on a case and is set to return in the April 17 episode, although it may not end well given the preview images.
Also, Len Cariou made an appearance as Danny’s grandfather, Henry, with some updates on the family, like how Danny’s brother Jamie (Will Estes) and his wife Eddie (Vanessa Ray) had welcomed a child.
With Boston Blue renewed for a second season, the door remains open for other Blue Bloods characters to pop in sometime, including Estes, Ray, or Moynahan. Obviously, viewers would love to see Tom Selleck coming in as Frank Reagan, but that’s still up in the air.
Still, it’s good to see Boston Blue continue to connect to Blue Bloods to continue the legacy of this long-running hit drama.
Boston Blue airs Fridays at 10/9c on CBS.
