March 2025 was a mixed month for renewals and cancellations. We were shocked by some of the broadcast decisions, while others were expected.

We’re only looking at the broadcast shows in this post. That means ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and The CW. We do have a technicality on one of the shows as it was originally a broadcast series but moved to streaming for its revival.

All the broadcast shows canceled in March 2025

There were three cancellation decisions made last month, and it was CBS making all three decisions. Two of these decisions were surprising, while one was something that we somewhat expected even though we’re still not ready for it.

FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted were surprisingly canceled toward the start of the month. While we did expect to see one of them canceled or at least reduced to a half-season, we didn’t expect both of them to go. Neither of the shows are being shopped around, which makes it clear that they can’t be saved by another network or streamer right now.

The third broadcast show was SWAT. After avoiding cancellation twice, CBS finally made it clear that the series would come to an end. Shemar Moore would like to keep the series going, but he knows that it won’t be at CBS anymore. Is there any hope that Netflix or another streamer will pick it up? This is looking unlikely at this point, especially with the season finale written to work as a series finale just in case.

All the broadcast shows renewed in March 2025

It wasn’t all bad news throughout the month. There were a few renewals that came through, although most of them were streaming and cable shows.

CBS opted to renew one of its bubble shows toward the end of the month. The Neighborhood scored an eighth season, but it came with the caveat that it would be the final season. While this is disappointing, we’re happy to see the story get the closure that it deserves.

One of the renewals was Criminal Minds: Evolution. Yes, this is now a streaming series, but it was originally a CBS show. While Evolution is a revival series, it feels like the original 15 seasons because most of the BAU cast hasn’t changed from season 15. The fourth season renewal for Evolution (19th for Criminal Minds overall) came ahead of the season 3 premiere date, making it clear that Paramount+ is happy with the way this show is going.

We’ll be sure to bring updates of all the renewals and cancellations each month on the broadcast networks so you don’t feel like you’ve missed something.
