Criminal Minds fans, there is exciting news afoot! Not only do we have information about the release date for season three of Evolution, but we also have renewal news as well! Find out what we know so far as we anticipate the return of our favorite profilers.
As per Deadline, Paramount+ has extended the series reboot for a fourth season, which will bring back our favorite stars including Joe Mantegna, Paget Brewster, AJ Cook, Adam Rodriguez, Aisha Tyler, and Kirsten Vangsness.
In addition to the main cast, the series will also star Ryan-James Hatanakaka, who portrays Tyler Green in the reboot series. He became a series regular in season 2 after his introduction in the first season. We also expect the show will continue with the plotline involving Elias Voit.
Voit was a notorious serial killer who used an online network to create other serial killers all over the country. In the season 2 finale, he was beaten after being placed in the general population where he was being held.
What to expect in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 4
So far it is unknown what will happen to him, although we have an idea based on the casting of Aimee Garcia, who portrays a doctor who will be treating a patient with brain trauma, who also comes into conflict with Agent Luke Alvares. Most likely based on the plot for season 3, it will be Voit who she is treating.
The third season will premiere on Thursday, May 8 on Paramount+ and there will be ten episodes total just like the first two seasons. The first episode will premiere that day and the rest of the episodes will air weekly. It will follow the team attempting to stop Voit’s followers as they create more havoc in their communities following his attack, which will have been six months before the premiere.
We're also excited to see who the focus of each season will be on. Each season so far has focused on one main person on the team, so we could see more information on JJ, whose husband has been absent since actor Josh Stewart left the show.
We do not know much about what else to expect, although Matthew Gray Gubler is expected to appear at least once in his role as Dr. Spencer Reid. He is busy with another show, Einstein, but since it is also with CBS, he may be able to come back as Reid as his schedule allows.
