Canceled NBC series being shopped with hopes of finding new home

It seems hope is not lost for one NBC show canceled in 2026, as the studio behind the series is working to save the show.

The last few years have not been kind to broadcast TV shows with many successful shows being unexpectedly canceled in mass waves. Thankfully, 2026 did not feature many cancellations, with the vast majority of ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox original shows getting picked up for the 2026-27 TV season. However, there have still been some cancellations along the way, with a handful of shows failing to secure renewals.

Among those canceled this year was NBC’s new cheerleading comedy Stumble, which failed to secure a second season and was canceled ahead of NBC’s upfront presentation.

Despite strong critical praise, the mockumentary comedy about the world of junior college cheerleading failed to pick up much momentum among audiences. By the time the show’s final episode rolled around, a mere 1.7 million viewers were tuning in to watch the comedy. The show’s ratings were ultimately the death of the series, as NBC opted not to pick it up for a second season after attempting to give the show its best shot at building viewership.

While NBC was unable to bring the show back for another season, it seems hope for Stumble season 2 is not lost!

According to Matt’s Inside Line, Stumble is being shopped around by Universal Television with the hopes of finding a new home for the show after its cancellation on NBC.

While many shows get shopped after their cancellation, Inside Line notes that Stumble has a lot working in its favor, as the series is relatively cheap to produce given it's a half-hour comedy, does not feature any massive stars, and films in Atlanta. These aspects make the show more alluring to potential platforms, as the show does not come with a hefty price tag.

Given the show’s struggle to find an audience on broadcast, we imagine a streaming home is likely the ideal landing spot for the show. NBC did not release information about the show’s delayed viewership numbers for the full season, but the series premiere was reported to have been watched by 10.2 million viewers when delayed and multiplatform viewership figures were factored in.

We'll have to wait to see how this plays out and if the hunt for a new home is successful, but it's certainly nice to know that there is still hope for another season. Hopefully, the hunt for a new home for Stumble will yield positive results and season 2 will happen, as we’d love to see more of Coach Courteney Potter and the underdogs of the Heådltston State Junior College cheerleading program!
