CBS has made some big decisions about the majority of its shows, but there are still some on the bubble in March 2025. It leads to the question of which CBS shows are likely to be canceled, and which ones we’ll get for another season.
When CBS renewed nine shows, it came with worries for a few on the bubble. Since then, a number of the bubble shows have been canceled and another was renewed for a final season. Eyes are now on the three scripted shows that remain on the bubble.
CBS shows on the bubble likely canceled
There is one show that I’m most worried about is one that used to perform extremely well on Sundays. I had worried about its move to a later timeslot, and it does look like the show has lost a lot of its linear viewers. Yes, I’m talking about The Equalizer.
One of the issues for The Equalizer is that it’s a licensed show. Negotiations can be tough, and there were already concerns about the series not getting a fifth season. While there are talks about landing a potential sixth and final season, there are no guarantees, and the series has written a season 5 finale that can work as a series finale.
Another series I’m worried about is Poppa’s House, and that’s due to how little space there is for new comedies on the CBS network. The series hasn’t quite kept the viewership of its the Neighborhood lead-in, and that is a concern, especially when CBS is eyeing up a spin-off of The Neighborhood. With that series already landing an eighth season renewal, it’s possible that CBS will want to make space for the spin-off to run straight after it, putting Poppa’s House in jeopardy.
CBS shows on the bubble potentially renewed
There is one bubble show I do think we could see more of in the 2025–2026 season. The freshman series Watson did benefit from a post-championship game slot to give it the start that it needed. However, it didn’t quite keep the ratings from the following week, and it would usually sit toward the bottom of the list of all shows.
I have a feeling that Watson will get a second season while The Equalizer is canceled, allowing CBS to keep its Sunday night lineup a little consistent to how it was this year.
However, I’m only saying that this series will potentially be renewed. There are so many new shows in the works for CBS that we could see some mass cancellations coming to make room for shows like Einstein and The Equalizer's spin-off series.
