It’s a great news day for a lot of CBS shows. Nine have landed new seasons, with some surprising decisions from CBS.
Yes, nine shows have been renewed for the 2025–2026 TV season. Some of these renewals are not a surprise at all. They are strong shows that have some great ratings. However, there are some surprises in shows that are missing from the list, leaving us wonderings what’s going on.
It’s not unusual for CBS to renew shows in bulk. The majority on this list are scripted shows, with one show landing a two-season renewal order.
Ghosts has two more seasons (at least!)
In some exciting news, the CBS comedy Ghosts has landed a two-season renewal. Yes, we are getting season 5 in the 2025–2026 season and then we will get season 6 the season after. This will actually match when the FBI multi-season renewal comes to an end!
The double-season renewal is both unsurprising and happy. We love it when we know that there’s plenty more episodes to come for a popular series.

CBS renews the entire NCIS franchise
I’m still extremely salty that NCIS: Hawaii didn’t get a fourth season. Even if was a final season, I’d prefer a renewal over an abrupt cancellation. Yet, despite this, it’s clear that CBS isn’t done with the NCIS franchise.
All three current shows are renewed. Now, I’m not surprised about NCIS and NCIS: Origins, but I am surprised by NCIS: Sydney, purely because the second season only just premiered. It being a joint production could have helped it because it is a less costly show for CBS.
Elsbeth, Tracker, and more
That’s four shows, but what about the other five? Here’s a look at the other scripted shows renewed by CBS:
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage (for season 2)
Elsbeth (for season 3)
Tracker (for season 3)
Fire Country (for season 4)
The last of the shows is an unscripted game show. Hollywood Squares has landed a season 2 renewal!
What’s still on the bubble at CBS?
There are still many shows on the bubble, and some of them are surprising. FBI: International, FBI: Most Wanted, The Neighborhood, and Poppa’s House are on the bubble. Out of the four, The Neighborhood being left off the renewal list surprises me the most. With the news that CBS has ordered the pilot for FBI: CIA, I did expect one of the other FBI shows to be canceled, but it’s a coin toss over which one. This continues the feeling.
Along with that, we have to wait to hear about SWAT and The Equalizer. Both of these are licensed from Sony, and their renewals have come down to the wire in the past. It’s all linked to licensing deals, so we’ll have to see what happens between the two companies.
Watson hasn’t landed a renewal just yet. This could be because the show has only just aired its second episode. CBS will likely want to see how the freshman drama performs in its timeslot before making a renewal decision.
It’s a big day for CBS shows, though. We have a lot to look forward to in the 2025–2026 season.
