When we saw that there would be a dog in the firehouse during the Chicago Fire season 13 fall finale, we couldn’t help but think of Tuesday. If you missed the beloved Dalmatian’s exit, you’ll be wondering why Ritter spoke about her in the past tense. It’s a bittersweet story.

Tuesday the dog was Ritter’s dog. From being a puppy, she suffered from separation anxiety and had to be brought into the firehouse. Toward the end of her time on the show, she wasn’t seen as much, but many just thought she was somewhere around the firehouse off camera.

What happened to Tuesday the dog in Chicago Fire?

Sadly, the real Tuesday died of unforeseen kidney issues on May 22, 2022. There was a heartbreaking post on Instagram to share the update with her followers and fans.

She did get one final episode in the series. It ended up being the Chicago Fire season 10 finale, which was filmed months before her death would aired on May 25 of the same year.

Ritter made a mention of Tuesday in the Chicago Fire season 13 fall finale

The bittersweet part of the series was that there wasn’t a mention of Tuesday after her real-life death. We did get a dedication card, but there was never a reason for Tuesday to no longer be around the firehouse. It’s almost like Tuesday is still around somewhere.

Ritter did make a mention of Tuesday in the new episode, though. As Carver brought a dog he was caring for to the firehouse, Ritter noted that it was good to have a dog back in the space. He also shared that Tuesday hated being on a leash, and it led to her destroying the firehouse when Ritter would go out on calls. That meant that he had to start keeping her at home.

This does track from a previous episode of the series. Kidd did try to train Tuesday but it wasn’t successful. Dalmatians are smart dogs, but they’re not the easiest to train!

With Carver realizing how much he loved looking after Fridge the dog, there’s a chance that he’ll end up with a dog. Could we end up with another in the firehouse?

Chicago Fire returns on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 9/8c on NBC. Catch up with the series on Peacock.
