When Chicago Med went on its winter break, it did so with a huge question mark over whether Dr. Goodwin could be saved. We get to find out in Chicago Med season 10, episode 9.

The series is back after a lengthy winter break. The good news is that we now get some answers. The episode isn’t just going to be about saving Dr. Goodwin, either, although that is a huge part of it. Not everyone knows about Goodwin just yet.

Can the doctors save Goodwin in Chicago Med season 10, episode 9?

The synopsis tells us that the doctors will race to save one of their own, and we’re assuming that’s Goodwin. During the fall finale, she was held hostage by the person who ended up being her stalker. That person was the wife of a patient Goodwin couldn’t save, and naturally, that patient blames Goodwin. At least this patient didn’t opt for a hospital shooting, which is how it went down in Grey’s Anatomy with a similar storyline.

Of course, there’s no guarantee that Goodwin will even make it to surgery. She was stabbed in the fall finale. The end of the episode saw her able to get out of the room and cry out for help, just as Dr. Archer pressed the button to the elevator and the doors closed.

Is it possible that Archer doesn’t get back to Goodwin in time? Could he end up being the one whose life ends up being in danger?

While all this goes on, Dr. Asher has a patient of her own that is going to create an ethical dilemma. She has a religious patient who is suffering from an ectopic pregnancy. There is no way for an ectopic pregnancy to be viable. These types of pregnancies have implanted in the fallopian tube, and they lead to the death of the mother if not removed.

Of course, there becomes the debate of when life begins. As a religious patient, she is likely to not want an abortion believing that the fetus is a baby.

Then there’s Frost and Abrams, who will end up butting heads over a patient. We don’t know much about this patient and why they’re butting heads. The two do have different ways to deal with patients in a lot of cases, and they usually both have the patients at the heart of their decisions. It’s just a matter of which one has the better plan for the patients’ wants and needs.
