Criminal Minds: Evolution season 19, episode 2 brought Brian Garrity back, the thorn in Emily Prentiss’s side, who had a podcast discussing conspiracy theories. Only now, he is spreading lies about the BAU’s ties to Sicarius. Meanwhile, the team looks into the death of a former soldier after he blew himself up while appearing to suffer from PTSD.
During the autopsy, however, Agent Green learned that he had actually been lobotomized. What made the situation more sinister was that another former soldier had gone missing a week prior and was let go, now confined to a wheelchair and begging for death.

Criminal Minds: Evolution season 19 episode 2 begins to outline Voit's arc
When the third victim, an acupuncturist, was found, they determined that most likely, their unsub was dealing with debilitating headaches. He likely was trying to make other people feel his pain. As the team looked further into the case, Luke Alvez was dealing with a personal loss, and the recent trauma allowed him to come up with a suggestion for why their unsub is going after these individuals.
His beloved dog, Roxy, had to be put down after a painful tumor was discovered. He didn’t tell the team save for Penelope Garcia what happened, but he deduced the unsub had a tumor that was pressing down on an area of his brain, causing him pain. They eventually determined their unsub was Sergeant David Graham, who had been diagnosed with a tumor, but refused to believe the results.
He had already abducted a doctor who he had seen previously. Luckily, the team arrived to stop him before any harm came to him. Luke was able to talk him down by using his own experience before going to visit Roxy’s grave with Garcia.
As this was all going on, Elias Voit had decided on who to speak to, although he neglected to tell the grieving mother exactly how her daughter died. It was an awkward meeting, made even more bizarre when she accused the BAU of training him for his actions. Confused, he asked what she meant, and she told him about a podcast.
Voit didn’t like being misrepresented, and Emily tried to tell him that Garrity’s podcast was not even a blip compared to other ones. Voit eventually went on the podcast himself, but he had his own terms, which Garrity then tried to counter.
When Voit went in, he was immediately irritated when Garrity commented on his height. He was not amused with Garrity and made his feelings known, showing that he wasn’t some sort of greater being. He was just a serial killer, and there was no big conspiracy around his crimes.
The podcast essentially ended with Voit pointing out that no one should be following him, and the audience saw someone listening angrily in a vehicle. So from the looks of it, this podcast episode will come back to haunt Voit and the BAU.
What made the ending of the episode eerier was Voit was still hallucinating visions of Dave Rossi talking to him. He was seen in his cell looking around, and it became evident that deep down, he was still looking for a way to escape despite his supposed demeanor when talking to the BAU. Will the team realize something is amiss?
This was an interesting episode that gave Luke a story arc of his own, while still showing how it helped the team with their case. Plus, with the setup of the podcast potentially leading to more complications for the team, we’re looking forward to seeing where they go from here.
