TGIT is on a lengthy break. As much as we love the wildness of Doctor Odyssey, we won’t get to see the twisty drama return tonight, Thursday, Jan. 9.
That won’t be surprising to a lot of people. While ABC is bringing back a lot of other shows, we knew that the TGIT block wouldn’t return until closer to the spring. What about reruns, though? After all, CBS won’t bring shows back until late January, and there are a lot of reruns happening instead.
What’s on ABC tonight, Thursday, Jan. 9?
We continue with the bad news. Doctor Odyssey won’t air a rerun tonight, either. ABC has opted for other programming considering the length of the break—it’s not like we’re waiting a few weeks until the end of the month like CBS is.
The 9/8c timeslot is being taken over by Only Murders in the Building season 2. We have the fourth and fifth episodes airing tonight, which takes us to the halfway point of the season. Of course, you can watch the series on Hulu without any commercials, but there is still something about sitting around the TV with broadcast viewing.
When will Doctor Odyssey return with new episodes?
We need to wait until March for the return of the series. As ABC warned us before the series went on its fall finale, Doctor Odyssey will return on Thursday, March 6. It will continue to air at 9/8c.
The wait is actually a blessing in disguise. A lot of shows that return this month will see inconsistent schedules. There are more weeks to May than there are episodes available, and that means the shows will need to take some weeks off. NBC is the biggest culprit for this, but even some ABC shows and CBS shows will see breaks.
By waiting until March, there are enough episodes to fill the weeks. There may be one week off at some point, maybe for Easter, but that’s it. We’re not expecting any changes to the schedule, which means more consistency and a lot more twisty fun.
Doctor Odyssey returns on Thursday, March 6 at 9/8c on ABC. Catch up on the series on Hulu.
