Doctor Odyssey won't bring us a new set of medical cases tonight (and here's why)

There is some bad news for those ready for more of the wild and twisty Doctor Odyssey. Max and his nurses are taking a night off from treating new patients.

There isn’t a new episode of Doctor Odyssey on tonight, Thursday, Nov. 28. The reasoning behind that is going to be pretty clear when you remember it’s Thanksgiving. There isn’t a chance that ABC would put on a new episode of scripted drama on Thanksgiving. That’s a recipe for disaster.

However, there is some more bad news. The break is longer than just one week. We are now in the show’s winter hiatus.

Doctor Odyssey has aired its fall finale

The first season fall finale has already aired. That was last week, with Avery finding out that she’s pregnant. Of course, she has no idea who the father is because she slept with both men. Condoms were worn, but we all know that they can break. That’s what happened here.

Max and Tristan are there to support Avery in any way that they can. Max fumbled that moment, but Tristan has been through pregnancy scares in the past. He’s no stranger to saying the right thing. He also knows Avery better than Max, which helps him understand her mind right now.

With the fall finale brings a lengthy break. That was the last episode of 2024, and now we’re ready for the new ear.

Doctor Odyssey will return in the spring

Now for a little more bad news. While a lot of other shows will be back in January, that’s not the case for Doctor Odyssey or the rest of the TGIT lineup. ABC is holding all three shows until the spring.

Doctor Odyssey will return on Thursday, March 6. It will still air in the middle of the TGIT block.

While the break initially seems disappointing, it’s likely to be a blessing in disguise. By opting for a longer winter break, there won’t be the need for a staggered schedule between January and May. This allows for more consistency as there is less need for a week off in the schedule—maybe one around Easter weekend.

So many people complain of weeks off here and there with other shows. Isn’t it better to know that when you get your show back, you have new episodes all the way until the finale?
