The hit Hulu show Only Murders in the Building is officially staffing up for its sixth season on the streaming giant. Among a swath of new cast additions, Sean Teale, who might be best known to television and streaming viewers as Doctor Odyssey’s nurse Tristan Silva, is taking on a whole new role.
Along with Teale, Disney has confirmed with Deadline that a total of seven new guest stars have been added for the next season of the murder mystery comedy starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short.
In addition to the former Doctor Odyssey star, season 6 of Only Murders in the Building has added Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous), Simone Ashley (Bridgerton), Amar Chadha-Patel (Willow), Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper), Matthew Beard (The Imitation Game), and Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters)
The plot of Season 6 of the streaming hit is a big secret at the moment, but the show is being shot in the UK this time around. That marks the first time that Only Murders in the Building has been shot anywhere outside of the United States.
Considering the setting, it's not at all a surprise that the latest group of recurring guest stars has a very British lean. Before making a name for himself as one of the heartthrob medical professionals on Doctor Odyssey, Sean Teale was best known as the recurring character Nick Levan in the famed UK soap opera Skins.
Since Doctor Odyssey was canceled after just one season, many of the cast members went on to appear in other shows, and Teale has kept busy by appearing in five episodes of the British-centered Paramount+ series The Gold, where he played Enrique. He also played the character Luis Castillo in the BritBox TV miniseries The Lady. That limited series was put together by the same people behind the beloved long-running series centered on the British royal family, The Crown.
As of now, what characters the new additions to the Only Murders cast will portray is being kept under wraps, as is what exactly will happen now that the main characters are headed overseas.
Season 6 will pick up after season 5’s shocking finale, where the crime-solving trio of Mabel, Oliver, and Charles sit down to listen to Cinda Canning’s newest true-crime podcast. The podcast recounts the story of a red-haired woman accused of killing a royal descendant in London, whom Cinda (Tina Fey) claimed was innocent and sent to the United States for safety. Shortly after, the red-haired woman staggers to the gates of the Arconia, but she is revealed to be Cinda herself, having been fatally attacked in relation to this London-based scandal.
