FBI season 8, episode 21 saw OA dealing with the new ADIC as he also crossed paths with another agent he had recently had a connection with. How did the penultimate episode of the season fare for OA as he dealt with continuing changes in the hierarchy at work?
It looks like the new ADIC is already prepared to put at least one agent in his crosshairs. While OA was in the field, taking the lead on a murder case, his apparent refusal to follow direct orders caused him to be reassigned. Could ADIC Green have his own agenda in how the agents respond in the field?

OA's decision-making is called into question
The team was following a lead on who killed Robert Pearson, a contender for a company’s new CEO. As they tried to find their suspects, automatic weapons began firing at the team. While ADIC Green wanted the team to go in right away, OA argued they didn’t have a line of sight and needed to wait for the Bearcat.
While Isobel tried to reassure ADIC Green that she trusted OA’s judgment, he was not pleased. He felt that OA’s decision caused the team to lose their suspects as they had escaped through a hidden passage.
The group they were going after was Alameda Underground, a domestic terrorist organization that had been disbanded a decade prior. However, it now appears they have made a resurgence and are attempting to cause havoc once again.
OA was left to keep watch over June Taxera, whose ex-husband had founded the group. He was working with Agent Zara Ushruff, whom he had gone to dinner with after meeting during a previous case. Fans got an update on them, finding out that OA had ghosted her, arguing that it was Ramadan. However, she figured he wasn’t ready after coming off a long-term relationship.
A body found in the group’s hideout turned out to belong to Ana Montero, a teacher whose husband used to be part of AU. He was distraught to learn she had been killed, and he told them the group had taken her, demanding dynamite in exchange for her return. He thought she was still alive, and now the group wanted him to meet so they could give her back. However, the team knew this was a trap, and Scola took his place.
One of the suspects arrived, and while he was killed, they were able to find out where he had been due to a parking ticket in his possession. They had gone to a left-leaning newspaper office and left a bomb there. Luckily, the team managed to evacuate the building before it went off. They were confused about the motive, though, since their group’s beliefs aligned with the newspaper’s.
In the meantime, Zara and OA kept watching June but didn’t feel like they had anything to go on. She barely made calls on her landline but seemed to take a lot of showers. OA decided to go to the AUSA to get permission to tap her bathroom.
OA almost got caught, but luckily, Zara managed a ruse to allow him to escape. This action meant they discovered June was actually calling the shots. They also discovered some dynamite was still missing, and the group was planning a big explosion.
The investigation also found June had been making bets at an online gambling site, using predictions to win based on the crimes taking place. This is how the team discovered a bombing was set to take place at a marathon event.
Just as they figured this all out, the owner of the site, whom they had dealt with before during a major blackout, placed a bet about June’s upcoming arrest. This signaled that now her group would be going after her to make money. The team managed to prevent her from being killed while also arresting the final members of the group who had targeted the CEO.
In the end, OA did not end up in trouble for going behind Green’s back in getting assistance from the AUSA. Zara took the blame, telling him the agency would benefit from him being a leader one day. While we do not want to see Zara lose her job due to what happened, there is still a chance OA will get in trouble somehow.
The season 8 finale synopsis hints that OA’s future on the team will be called into question. Hopefully, Isobel will be able to stick up for him, especially since it seems ADIC Green has his own way of how he wants things run.
FBI season 8 will conclude on Monday, May 18, at 9/8c. You can catch up on previous episodes on Paramount+.
