FBI season 9, episode 4 saw the exit of a new character who we barely got to know before he disappeared. While this was a way to reintroduce OA to the team, it was a different take on how some recurring characters can disappear in an instant. How did FBI Agent Isaiah Green get caught up in an abduction and murder case?
It all started when a baby, Hadley Kuo, was abducted. His mom had taken him out for a drive to help him fall asleep. While she stood outside talking to her husband, someone came and stole her vehicle. All she remembered was that he had been covered in blood.
A 911 call had come in just minutes before the abduction, just mere blocks away. A neighbor had heard a woman screaming for help, but she was killed before the police could arrive. Without security footage, they couldn’t figure out who their suspect was. But they did find the suspect’s blood on a fence, and when the DNA came back, the FBI was shocked to find it belonged to Agent Isaiah Green.
Even though things looked bad for Isaiah, the team tried not to jump to conclusions. What they did know was that the victim, Amanda Murray, had dated Isaiah before they broke up months earlier. Amanda worked for a man named Kasper Sorenson, who owned a new startup called Sovereign-9, which dealt in rocketry. They were preparing to go public before this all happened.

At first, they thought Amanda’s new boyfriend was involved, and when they questioned him, they learned the two had broken up. The team also discovered that Isaiah had come to question him before leaving. He had gotten the name of Cory Oden, who Amanda worked with. But when asked about the baby, they were told that Isaiah did not have baby Hadley.
In an effort to understand what happened to Amanda and look at different suspects, the team focused their investigation on her job. Once they found Isaiah at Cory’s house, where he was found hovering over Cory’s dead body, he told them what he remembered. He was in the middle of a manic episode following a recent diagnosis of bipolar disorder.
He had gone to Amanda’s house after running into her at a restaurant bar. She had mentioned being scared about something at work, and they had some wine. He had fallen asleep at one point and heard banging on the door. Somehow, he didn’t hear anything happening to Amanda.
His memories were foggy, and he couldn’t tell the team where Hadley was. All he remembered was smelling hibiscus flowers and a laptop and flames. The team investigated who else worked with Cory and Amanda before finding a woman named Serena.
She was in the middle of destroying her work laptop, which revealed there was a design flaw in the rockets that were to be launched. Serena stood to gain billions in shares from the company once it went public, so having this news get spread could destroy that. However, she had an alibi for both Amanda’s and Cory’s murders.
Maggie and OA went to question Sorenson, who had no idea there was still an issue with the rockets. He remembered an emergency meeting had been called, and the only other person who would know was Dale, who worked in security. However, before they could even focus on him, Dale shot Sorenson before trying to escape.
From the sounds of it, the company going public would help people like Dale earn money, and any issues could ruin the company’s chances of success. It sounded like he killed Amanda and Cory to keep the design flaw information from being exposed.
Now that they knew who committed the murders, they still needed to find Hadley. Isaiah even escaped hospital custody, hoping to find the little boy. He went to a park where he thought he left him, but nothing was there. ADIC Green found his nephew alongside the team and figured out where Hadley was.
A lady named Rubi had a daycare Isaiah used to go to, and she had hibiscus flowers outside her home. Isaiah had taken Hadley there to keep him safe while he tried to find Amanda’s killer. With Hadley safely reunited with his parents, ADIC Green promised to get Isaiah the help he needed.
Now we are disappointed to see Isaiah go. However, it sounds like there is always a chance we will see him again or even get an update, since ADIC Green is still on screen.
The episode also showed that OA wasn’t completely back to his old self. While spending the evening with his girlfriend, Zara Ushruf, it sounded like OA was open with Maggie about his experiences, at least that’s how OA made it sound. But Maggie has no idea what has been going on with OA, since he spent the entire episode nearly closed off and tight-lipped.
It’s clear the show is exploring the aftermath of OA being undercover and seeing how he will deal with the effects that being on Anna Vorp’s team will continue to have on him. It’s never a good idea to lie to the people who care about you, and it seems like this is a path OA is heading down.
FBI airs Mondays on CBS at 8/7c.
