FOX finally came through with some renewals in early April 2025, and yes, it was all about the animated comedy lineup. There’s a reason it’s called Animation Domination, and it does help FOX secure viewership on Sundays when Sunday Night Football can take over.
Three of the current animated shows have been renewed. There was also the exciting news that American Dad! would make the move back to FOX after airing on TNT for a decade. It also scored the same multi-season renewal as the three comedies.
What joins Bob’s Burgers in the multi-season renewal on FOX?
Yes, Bob’s Burgers was one of the shows on the list. Despite the series being off the air right now, it has routinely performed well throughout the fall lineup. It has been disappointing waiting for it to come back, but it shows that FOX knows that the viewers will stick around.
The Simpsons and Family Guy were also renewed for the multiple seasons. These two renewals aren’t that surprising when they continue to be two of the most popular comedies. The Simpsons is second behind Universal Basic Guys (with Bob’s Burgers then third) and then Family Guy comes next.
To be honest, the only reason Family Guy doesn’t quite have the same demo and total audience numbers as Bob’s Burgers and The Simpsons is due to it not airing in the fall. It doesn’t benefit from the post NFL overrun viewership that the other two shows do throughout September to December.

How many seasons are the three shows renewed for?
All three shows (and American Dad!) have been renewed for four seasons each. This guaranteed that they will be on the air until at least the 2028-2029 TV season.
There is a little bit of bad news in that they will only have 15 episodes each, but I think this is a sign of just how many animated shows FOX now has and needs to find space for. The reduction in episodes also comes with the rising cost of creating TV. The easiest way to cut costs is to reduce episode counts.
There are now only two animated shows on the bubble, The Great North and Gimsburg, and I am concerned about both of them. If FOX wants to add American Dad! to the lineup and potentially add another animated show, it will need to make some room.
