A major FOX show is returning to the network and in multiple seasons! This is surprising news.

FOX’s “Animation Domination” has been a key part of their lineup for decades. It began with The Simpsons, which set the tone for every adult animation show since 1990. That included the long-running Family Guy, which began in 1999.

Fans are used to these shows being renewed on a season-by-season basis. But per TVLineFOX is making a stunning move as it not only brings back the animated show American Dad! but it, along with The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and Family Guy, are all renewed for a whopping four seasons each!

American Dad! renewed for multiple seasons

Each season of American Dad! will comprise of 15 episodes. For those counting, this deal will take The Simpsons through to season 40, Bob’s Burgers through to season 19, Family Guy through to season 27, and American Dad! through to season 23.

“This new deal celebrates the eternal popularity of these iconic comedies, as well as the enduring, prolific relationship we continue to enjoy with our friends at 20th Television Animation and the brilliant creators – that goes double for Seth this time around — and incredible voices behind these contemporary classics,” Michael Thorn, President of FOX Television Network, said in a statement.

This is an unprecedented move as a show renewed for a season or two is normal, but all getting four seasons each is more amazing. It also means The Simpsons is going to be going through 2029, which is its 40th anniversary, so no wonder that the network wants to keep it going.

Fans of all the shows will be happy, but especially for those of American Dad! getting back to its home network.

American Dad! is jumping back to FOX

Premiering on FOX in 2005, American Dad! comes from Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy and Futurama. It plays as a warped family comedy about CIA agent Stan (MacFarlane) handling his job and a strange family that includes a talking fish and an alien.

The show is notable for the outrageous humor MacFarlane is known for and some fun social commentary to go with the comedy. It aired on FOX for 12 seasons before moving to TBS in 2015.

The show wrapped up its 21st season on Tuesday, March 25 on TBS. With that network dropping scripted fare, the show is logically moving back to FOX even as reruns will continue on Adult Swim until 2030.

It’s a great move for both the show and FOX as Dad feels better with the other animated shows. There is a question of when season 22 can arrive and if this will affect other FOX animated shows like Krapopolis and The Great North.

At least fans of FOX animation can breathe easier as they don’t have to worry about cancellation for four years, as the return of an old favorite will highlight this mass renewal!

The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad! and Bob’s Burgers are all available to stream on Hulu.
