Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage returns to CBS with new episodes this Thursday, Jan. 30, after a grueling two-month hiatus. It's about time, too, because Thursday nights are not the same without The Big Bang Theory spin-off.
Season 1, episode 8, titled "Diet Crap," will focus on another obstacle for the young couple. Mandy wants to get back into the workforce as she tries to earn some income to support her family. Georgie does his best to provide financial security, but it's not enough, and the lack of money is an ongoing conflict in the show. While it's materialized to be comedic as Georgie and Mandy is a sitcom, the financial burdens are a realistic reflection.
In "Diet Crap," we'll see more of the facing monetary barriers between the young husband and wife and how they'll sort it out, as they have in previous episodes. Plus, Connor will have a more dominant storyline, as Mandy's brother has been coming out of the shadows and into a more dimensional character.
Since the last episode, "An Old Mustang," had a more Connor-centric plotline, I'm excited to see his continuing development and growing relationships with his family.
Previewing Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage season 1, episode 8, "Diet Crap"
As mentioned, Mandy return to work, but aside from being a waitress from Blue Bell's Diner, she's now a sales woman for a diet supplement company. Now, if you were around in the 1990s, diet supplements were hot on the market, as women desired that perfect supermodel body. Who knows if the stuff actually worked, but the products brought in millions for the diet industry.
Obviously, Mandy's new job causes some rifts between her and Georgie, as he most likely sees himself as the main breadwinner. Yet, by the end of the night, he realizes that his wife has every right to enhance their lives, as marriage is a two-partner relationship. Georgie and Mandy are determined to make theirs work, despite the doubts and objections from others.
CBS dropped the official synopsis for the newest episode, which can be read below.
"Tensions rise when Georgie intrudes on Mandy’s new sales gig. Meanwhile, Audrey’s conflicted when Jim makes it a point not to coddle Connor."
Connor will have his share in "Diet Crap," as Audrey is having trouble letting her son become independent, but Jim emphasizes that Connor is an adult and reminds his wife that he needs to grow up.
That said, the scenarios surrounding this narrative are hilarious, and Jim is most stumped by how simple it was to have Connor do a few chores. All he had to do was ask Connor if he could help around the house.

Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage will come on 8/7c on CBS on Thursday, Jan. 30. Following its return, Ghosts will have its mid-season premiere, "The Not-So-Silent Partner."
