No other comedy series currently on air gets to have as much fun as CBS's Ghosts. With an eccentric ensemble and a premise that allows for so many unique situations, the series continues to be a fan-favorite -- and for good reason! The series has leaned into music and jokes about musicals in the past, but one cast member has recently spoke up about whether the cast would want to do a full musical episode in the future.
We haven't heard from the executive producers about whether they'd support a musical episode of Ghosts, but one of the show's stars has revealed she thinks it would be an incredible idea. Rose McIver, who plays Samantha on the popular comedy series, recently spoke with TVLine about why she thinks a musical episode would be perfect for Ghosts.
When asked about whether she would want to do a musical episode, McIver said, “We hope so, so much." We take it this to mean she's not the only cast member on board with the idea. “We had the musical element in this season with the Anything Goes episode, which I had a great time doing," McIver said. "But we have so many cast members who are singers and dancers and performers of various sorts, we really, really hope that we could lean in and do that at some point in the future.”
This also isn't the first time that CBS's Ghosts has leaned into stories around musicals. A few years ago, CBS released a lyric video called "Ghosts: The Musical", parodying Broadway's Hamilton from Isaac's point of view. But what's more, there WAS an actual musical theater number performed by the Ghosts cast at the Paramount Upfronts presentation in 2022. An attendee in the audience has posted it to YouTube, where it's gotten a lot of praise from fans who want to see more. (I highly recommend watching it if you've never seen it -- it's such a fun number, complete with a kickline).
When might Ghosts have a musical episode?
In February 2025, CBS announced that Ghosts has received a two-season renewal, which means we'll see the show continue through (at least) season 6. Currently in its fourth season, we don't expect to see a musical episode among the remaining episodes this spring, but we're keeping our fingers crossed that a musical episode (or two) is in the cards for season 5 or 6.
Ghosts season 4 airs Thursdays at 8:30pm on CBS and will have 22 episodes. Episodes are also available to stream Fridays on Paramount+, and if you have some catching up to do, all prior episodes are also now available to stream.
