After each broadcast television season ends, it's always frustrating when we have to wait all summer for new episodes of our favorite shows (if they have even been renewed). But it's also an exciting opportunity to find out if any small screen hits make their way to Netflix for a victory lap. Grey's Anatomy and Sullivan's Crossing are Netflix staples, and another's set to join the list.
While Chicago PD will be making its Netflix debut in international territories this summer, its medical drama counterpart Chicago Med won't be joining the series on the streamer. After all, Chicago Med already spent time on Netflix, as did hits like The Resident, New Amsterdam, and Doc. We have even better — no, the best — news: Fox's breakout series Best Medicine is coming to Netflix!
Best Medicine coming to Netflix in August 2026 ahead of season 2
Like fellow Fox medical drama Doc, last season's breakthrough hit Best Medicine brings its 13-episode first season to Netflix in the United States on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026. The series has been available to stream on Hulu since its premiere, which makes this the show's first appearance on Netflix. Also like Doc, a successful run on Netflix could help further boost its profile.

However, Best Medicine has been doing quite well even without a second push that Netflix can often provide for new shows. The series maintained stable ratings throughout its debut run, which began with its debut in January 2026 and conclusion in April. Before the first season even came to an end, Fox announced the second season renewal, and that later came with more good news.
Best Medicine season 2 was initially announced as a 12-episode season, down one episode from its freshman run. But the network ended up adding two episodes to that order, bringing the episode count up to 14 episodes ahead of the season 2 premiere. This time around, the medical drama will premiere in the fall at 8 p.m. on Tuesday nights ahead of Doc.
Clearly, the series has made an impact based on the fact that it's moving up to the fall schedule and running for at least one more episode than its first season. Now with a solidified spot on Netflix's summer roster, there's no doubt that Best Medicine will have a second breakthrough on the streamer. We can already see it rising through the daily Top 10 as new fans discover the delight show.
The Good Wife alum Josh Charles stars in Best Medicine as Dr. Martin Best, a Boston doctor who leaves his job in the city to take over a private practice in Port Wenn, Maine. It's a small coastal community that he spent time in as a kid with quirky personalities. Dr. Best works to help his new batch of patients while also battling his own phobia of blood and finding his place in town.
Before Best Medicine season 2 arrives on Fox this fall, make sure to catch up on the first season when it's added to Netflix on Aug. 4. Even better, experience the series for the first time!
