If you have been anxiously awaiting a solution in the central storyline in Matlock, our patience will soon be rewarded in the two-part season 2 finale.

The hit CBS legal drama has been following Matty's complicated fight for justice in the Wellbrexa cover up that resulted in the death of her beloved daughter Ellie. While Matty first attempted to work alone from the inside of the law firm, Olympia soon joined her team, and after trials and tribulations in trust, they are on the same page in bringing down Senior for his role in the cover up.

In Matlock season 2, Senior's son Julian joined the secret alliance, which was in itself a difficult process. But with each passing episode of the season, they have gotten closer to ending the war once and for all, and in a new interview ahead of the season finale, star Skye P. Marshall confirmed that we will be getting an answer and a "thrilling" conclusion to the storyline.

Matlock season 2 finale will conclude the Wellbrexa storyline

"There will be an answer. One-hundred percent," Marshall shared with TV Insider. She shared an even more promising preview: "There’s a lot of downfalls, and there’s some inspiration to be had as well. In the finale, the audience will feel every emotion on the spectrum, and that’s exactly what I felt when I read the script. And it is going to take two hours. You will sit down. This is a movie."

Marshall also used the words thrilling, exciting, and captivating to describe the two episodes that end season 2, which are titled "Who Are You?" and "Matty Matlock." There's a lot to unpack from the episode titles alone. They suggest a real reckoning with Matty's fake persona that she's used at the law firm for two seasons. Perhaps her entire truth will be coming to light, too.

Based on Marshall's additional preview of the finale, it sounds like we're going to have to buckle up for a major event. As she told TV Insider, "Kathy Bates’ performance is award-worthy. What I brought to the table with her is. The chemical reaction that happens between Kathy and I, between Julian and Senior, between Sarah and [Hunter], you really get to see these relationships be challenged in the most complex way, and how we overcome it will provide an answer to the audience of who won this war."

Clearly, we can expect there to be a winner and a loser in the long push-and-pull battle between Matty, Olympia, and Julian on one side and Senior (and now The Wolf) on the other. Despite some setbacks, the team inched closer to taking him down, as Julian convinced his father to give him power of attorney in season 2 episode 13. That's an important role for their plan.

The final sees them attempting to overcome another hurdle, but according to Marshall, more than just the Wellbrexa cover up will come to a head in the finale. Julian and Senior will have another showdown, and there's something brewing between Sarah and Hunter. They started to warm up to each other, but Hunter worries that Sarah possibly returning to Olympia's team could cost him his job.

There are a lot of developments to look forward to in the season 2 finale, and the best part about the upcoming two-part season ender is that we already have the third season to look forward to. When this part of the show's story ends, we'll be finding out what direction the next chapter will take. Prepare for an incredible episode and a surefire cliffhanger to send us off into the summer!
