There has never been a better time to be an NCIS fan. The franchise has been welcoming back some of its biggest names this season, bringing together the stars of the new era of NCIS and the OGs who helped launch what is one of the most successful franchises on TV.
Michael Weatherly is back as Tony DiNozzo in a series regular role on NCIS, where he’s taken over as NCIS director. Mark Harmon is back full-time as a series regular on NCIS: Origins, where he’s set to be joined by NCIS alum Emily Wickersham. And LL Cool J is back as Sam Hanna, leading the charge on NCIS: New York following his 14-season run on NCIS: Los Angeles. There have also never been more NCIS shows on at once with four series on CBS’s lineup, showing this franchise is not slowing down and is having fun playing some of its greatest hits.
We’ve seen so many beloved characters return, and it seems there is hope that another familiar face might make a return sometime in season 24: McGee’s wife, Delilah!
"We would love to bring her back, and we probably will bring her back, and obviously she will have a reaction—and I think her reaction would be the one we'd all want her to have,” NCIS showrunner Steven D. Binder told Matt’s Inside Line, expressing hopes to bring Delilah back and explore her reaction to McGee’s long-lost son, Mateo.
It would certainly be great to see Margo Harshman back in the role of Delilah, and it’s been far too long since we’ve seen her on-screen. Sure, the show has mentioned Delilah in conversation, but we haven’t actually seen Harshman on screen since season 22, and that needs to change—especially with everything going on in McGee’s life at the moment.
Not only did McGee discover he has a secret son in the time since we last saw Delilah, but he’s now facing a major career opportunity after Tony revealed SecNav is eyeing McGee as her replacement. Episode 3 gave us a quick Delilah reference with McGee sharing his wife’s excitement at the news, but it would be nice to actually see Delilah back on screen in an episode that could explore McGee’s personal life and the many changes going on in it—plus it’s been far too long since we’ve seen his twins, so it’s time for a proper McGee reunion.
Not only would it be fun to see Delilah and McGee back together, but we'd also love to get a new scene or two between Delilah and Tony, who haven't shared the screen together in a decade! That's right, not since season 13 have Tony and Delilah appeared in the same episode, which is far too long.
Hopefully, the powers that be will find a way to bring Harshman back for a guest appearance sometime in the season ahead, as we’re dying to see Delilah back in the fold!
