NCIS: Origins season 3, episode 4 had a special guest star from Emily Wickersham, who reprised her role as former NCIS Special Agent Ellie Bishop. Now working for the DoD in cybersecurity, she is there to help Gibbs as he tries to find out who tried to kill him. Back in the past, however, what are Gibbs and crew up to?

Roan Briggs was the tracker who was after Gibbs. Ellie helped him set up a laptop that would help them figure out where Briggs was when he resurfaced. She also helped take the bullet out of his chest wound so that they could make it stop bleeding.

The team protects a the son of a General who is in danger on NCIS: Origins

By this time in the past, it is 1993, and Gibbs is in his garage when a kid who was hiding out rushes inside. When Gibbs finds him, the kid thinks he is following him. But who exactly is the kid?

He told Gibbs his name was Kevin Montgomery and he was a real estate agent. Gibbs interrupts Franks’s death in order to get permission to keep holding him since he believes he is being followed by someone.

Franks questions him, but he doesn’t believe there is a reason to hold him. Gibbs takes him home, but when he goes in to provide Kevin with his card, someone drives by and shoots at them through the windows.

After the incident, Randy learns that his real name is Jack Hale and he is the son of General Arthur Hale. Eventually, to avoid having to talk to his dad about making fake IDs, Jack admits to Gibbs that a rival dealer had told Jack to stop making fake IDs. When he refused to do so, a Black Cadillac began following him.

Since the guy had visited Jack at his work, the team took him back to the store to get the camera footage. However, someone had already broken in. While they were inside, the FBI came in looking for none other than Jack himself.

It turned out that FBI Agent Swanson got a tip from a woman named Tilly Chavez who had seen something that scared her. But before they could meet, Tilly was murdered. She was a cleaner who likely saw something during her work, and the killer was trying to find any potential evidence she had obtained. She had taken photos and brought them to Jack’s work to get them developed before she was murdered.

Even though Jack didn’t see anything odd in the photos since some came out blank, Lala uses a dark room to help enhance the images. After bonding with Jack and learning he did not want to reunite with his father, they discovered that one of the images captured mummified heads.

The victims were part of the Nine Gates Brotherhood, so Lala and Franks went to talk to Flaco about any recent gang activity while Gibbs kept an eye on Jack. Flaco gives them the name of a man named Xi Chan, who had been an enforcer for Nine Gates.

They plan on moving in on a warehouse that Chan owned but have to be careful since Chan likely had security cameras through the whole facility. In the meantime, Jack’s father was informed and planned on meeting his son at a secure base in North Carolina to keep him safe until Chan was found.

However, Gibbs realized that Jack was too calm about learning about this plan and that he likely heard the team talking since the vents go up to Wheeler’s office. So he already knew about the plans and escaped through a window under the guise of using the restroom.

He wanted to help Tilly’s family by drawing out Chan and stopping him for good. He went to the warehouse to show his face. The team arrived in time to stop Chan when he got ahold of Jack and to save him, Gibbs shot Chan dead.

After helping the team stop Chan, Jack said goodbye to Gibbs, but only after he told Gibbs to give the money he wanted back to Tilly’s family. After an episode of being spoken of as being selfish, Jack did a selfless thing, showing he was capable of growing. Plus, after getting a camera as a gift from Lala, it seems like he might have a better career in mind.

The episode also ended by giving us a huge answer about Lala. When Ellie saw a photo of young Gibbs with Lala, he told her that she had passed away in a plane crash years ago. After two seasons of wondering what happened to her, fans got their answer. This might be a reason Gibbs never spoke about her out loud, as it was too painful to remember losing someone he considered to be the one.

Now, Gibbs and Ellie are on their way to Baltimore to find Briggs. Now the question is, who on Gibbs’s former team is likely in danger? One member we have not met yet in the present is Randy, so could he be the key to who is after Gibbs as well?
