With NCIS just days away from returning, we’re looking forward to seeing who will guest star on the show. In addition to the return of Michael Weatherly as former Very Special Agent Tony DiNozzo, other returning characters will also likely join the main cast for more adventures in season 24. But do we have any information on new guest stars?
While not much has been revealed about what to expect when the show returns, a preview for the new season from TVLine hinted at a cameo from a well-known ‘80s star. In a teaser from showrunner Steven D. Binger, he only said of the cameo that it would come from someone from a television show in the ‘80s that he said was not only his favorite but was likely “a lot of people’s favorite TV show in the ‘80s.”

NCIS Season 24 has a lot to address but a lot to look forward to
Now, there are so many possibilities for who this star is, especially since they will be joining a story arc “in a really nice, heartfelt way.” Another part of the preview for season 24 of NCIS mentioned that we would meet a family member of one of the main cast members, and all we know is that they would be played by “a special guest star.”
Is there a chance the same special guest star will also be the guest star who was on the ‘80s show that was hinted at above? Anything is possible, especially since there’s plenty we don’t know about the new season, other than the return of Weatherly. Either way, season 24 is close enough, and we’ll soon find out who is joining the series this season.
In fact, episode 3 will have a guest star in actor Mike O’Malley, who will play Agent Nick Torres’ former handler, Walt Keller. He becomes involved with Torres again when his former undercover identity is used as a way for someone to commit murders, leading Torres to seek help. This is one guest star we’re looking forward to seeing, even if he isn’t the family member or ‘80s star we’re going to see.
As we get closer to the show premiering, we’re excited to see how everything works out for the team, especially Agent Tim McGee. He will be dealing with the fallout of what happened between Torres and his son, Mateo, in the season 23 finale, but hopefully it will be resolved quickly, and we will see what season 24 will focus on after season 23 had fans stunned at every twist and turn.
NCIS season 24 premieres on CBS on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 8/7c.
