We used to get new episodes in January, but that’s not been the case for a couple of seasons now. The TV networks have become far more unpredictable than they used to be. We won’t get a new episode of Grey’s Anatomy tonight, Thursday, Jan. 23.
What’s on instead of Grey’s Anatomy on ABC tonight?
We won’t even get a rerun of the medical drama. Instead, ABC will end the night with the last two episodes of Only Murders in the Building season 2. These episodes bring us the big reveals about what actually happened to Bunny and why Mabel was being framed. It’s a great look at how the trio put together the evidence, and how they get the right people to confess to them.
If you want to watch an older episode of Grey’s Anatomy, there are two options. You can watch up to season 20 on Netflix, or you can watch all episodes of the series so far, including the first part of season 21, on Hulu.
When will Grey’s Anatomy return with new episodes?
This break is a lengthy one, and it’s something that ABC warned us about before the series went on its winter break. We have to wait until Thursday, March 6 for the show to come back. This is when the rest of the TGIT lineup will also return.
While it seems like a bad thing right now, it will turn out to be a good thing. If the show returned now, there would be breaks in the schedule here and there in the run up to May. There are more weeks than there are episodes. By holding off the return, most of the weeks are covered with other shows. This means there’s possibly one break for a week, and that’s it. There may not be any breaks depending on when in May ABC wants to put the finale.
When the series does come back, there are a few things to deal with. Owen and Teddy’s marriage is on the rocks, and Owen isn’t happy with the way Cass’s hand was on Teddy’s shoulder in the elevator after finding out that Cass kissed Teddy. He clearly doesn’t trust Teddy—and considering she cheated before their wedding, I don’t blame him—but he needs to decide whether he’s willing to accept what happened or if he’s going to give up on this marriage.
Grey’s Anatomy returns on Thursday, March 6 at 10/9c on ABC.
