We are certainly more than ready for a new episode of Chicago Med, but there’s a lot of bad news tonight, Wednesday, March 19. There isn’t a new episode just yet, and there isn’t a rerun, either!
We’re still in the middle of a One Chicago break. This is disappointing, but at least usually we get reruns of the series. That’s not going to be the case tonight, with NBC opting to showcase live performances from the Opry, as it celebrates 100 years of performances. This is an exciting time for country music fans around the globe!
Why is Chicago Med on a break right now?
While this week’s break is due to Opry 100, the break is for another reason within the show. After all, fans will remember that Chicago Med was off the air last week as well, with a rerun of the One Chicago three-way crossover from January 2025. This is due to scheduling needs for two reasons.
The first is that NBC needs to make sure there are enough episodes to air in May for finale season. The second is for filming purposes. The show is onto around episode 19 and 20 right now, and the break in the airing schedule helps to keep that filming schedule ahead of the game.
When will Chicago Med return with new episodes (and what to expect)?
In some good news, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Chicago Med will return with new episodes next week, Wednesday, March 26, and we even know what to expect when the series does return. NBC made it clear that we’ll get a Frost-centric episode when the show is back.
Maggie asks Frost who the woman is in the promo for the episode. It’s clear that this woman is someone from Frost’s past that he doesn’t want to see again, but he feels like he has to put on a brave face. Grin and bear it, right? Well, no, Maggie knows that something is up, and she isn’t going to let Frost suffer alone. We get a lot more backstory about one of our new favorite characters on the series.
Chicago Med returns on Wednesday, March 26 at 8/7c on NBC. Catch up on the series on Peacock.
