Fans ready for the three One Chicago shows have some bad news tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 15. There isn’t going to be new episodes of either shows after all.

Don’t worry; you’re not mistaken in believing there was supposed to be a One Chicago lineup tonight. When the midseason premieres aired, the plan was for new episodes to air back-to-back. This week off was decided in the middle of the week due to a statement from President Biden.

Why isn’t One Chicago new tonight?

President Biden shared that he would make a goodbye speech from the Oval Office tonight. It starts at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, and naturally, the broadcast networks will want to air that speech live. Some of the networks will then choose to have some coverage afterward.

ABC is opting to push their shows back by 20 minutes, allowing for a relatively normal night of TV. NBC opted to pre-empt all three shows instead.

In a way, this makes sense. The three shows would end up on a week off at some point in the run up to May, as there are more weeks than episodes. So, this just helps to ease some of the off-schedule later in the season. It’s just annoying for those of us ready for new episodes.

The good news is that this is only a one week break. Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD will all return next Wednesday, Jan. 22.

What to expect when Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD return

Chicago Med will see Asher face a difficult decision. Her sister turns up with a way that she can get IVF paid for by her insurance company. It would mean Asher would have to commit medical fraud, which she is initially unhappy to do. However, it looks like she’s considering it at some point in the episode.

Meanwhile, Chicago Fire will see Severide had to deal with a situation involving a member of Squad 3. We know that this is surely linked to the way the previous episode ended, which saw Cruz shot in the arm during the incident with Junior. Severide could tell that Cruz wasn’t fully with it during the previous shift, and now he will want answers.

Over with Intelligence in Chicago PD, the team will have a dark and creepy case. Ruzek has to help a young girl called Zoe, who has had multiple moms (presumably foster moms) who have all ended up dead. What has happened, and what exactly is going on with the girl?

All three shows will now air on Wednesday, Jan. 22 on NBC. Catch up on Peacock.
