The Chicago Med season 10 fall finale left a life on the line. Would the doctors at the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center manage to save Sharon Goodwin in Chicago Med season 10, episode 9?

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from Chicago Med season 10, episode 9

The Chicago Med season 10 midseason premiere immediately opened with where the fall finale left off. Dean Archer had to rush through the building to get back to Goodwin to save her life. It was just in time in terms of the woman attacking her, but there was already some major damage.

Goodwin’s family didn’t want the full surgery in Chicago Med

Archer realized that Goodwin needed some extensive surgery to save her life. Part of that included a Whipple, which is a surgery that he’s done countless of times. However, it comes with complications, and Archer had to be honest about them.

Goodwin’s daughter decided she couldn’t lose her mom and risk the complications. She didn’t want the Whipple to happen. However, while in the middle of the surgery, Archer decided that he was going to go against the directives of Goodwin’s daughter. He couldn’t leave Archer with a bag and IV for the rest of her life. The Whipple was needed.

While the initial surgery went well, alarms on the machines went off as the doctors closed the surgical wound. That’s when we learned she also had broken ribs, and there were no breath sounds on the right hand side. It was difficult to intubate, but that was the only option the doctors had, and they had to act fast.

Did Sharon Goodwin make it through surgery in Chicago Med?

Despite the risks, Sharon Goodwin did make it through surgery. Archer shared the good news with Goodwin’s family, and then the texts went out to the other doctors in the hospital.

Maggie Lockwood had the chance to tell the woman who stabbed Goodwin about the good news. As the woman was arrested and taken out of the hospital, Maggie had a smug look on her face.

Do we really think everything is over, though? While the woman has been arrested, it’s clear that there is more to this story. Surely Goodwin is going to want to face her attacker once she’s healed and out of the ICU.

Maybe we could see Goodwin’s family consider action against Archer since he went against their wishes with the Whipple. Things just seemed to wrap up a little too easy in the Chicago Med season 10 winter premiere.

Chicago Med airs on Wednesdays at 8/9c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
