Scooby-Doo has been in the news a lot lately as more additions to the franchise get announced and MeTV Toons gets ready to launch.

When news broke that Netflix would be the home of the Greg Berlanti produced live-action TV adaptation of the famed dog and the meddling young sleuths he calls family, I lamented the fact that it's not going to be on The CW. But that series, which is in development, isn't the only property from the franchise we have to look forward to. Go-Go Mystery Machine is going to give the mystery comedy a fresh look.

TVLine reports the anime will be set in Japan while Shaggy and Scooby are on "the ultimate foodie adventure." Of course, these two won't be left alone to enjoy all they can eat because they always manage to get themselves into a spot of trouble. This time, they'll accidentally unleash hundreds of mythical (and mischievous!) monsters.

As they go monster-hunting across the country, the best buds will be joined by Scooby's uncle Daisuke-Doo, the magical Etsuko, and Toshiro who's known to be a gadget wiz. Given the tenants of anime and the story elements prevalent in the medium, we can likely expect some fantastical action sequences.

When speaking about Go-Go Mystery Machine, Stacey Kim, vice president, Series, Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios said the following about the project, per Variety: "We have seen a lot of iterations of ‘Scooby’ over the years, but nothing quite like this one. This is ‘Scooby’ does anime."

We can anticipate the new Scooby-Doo iteration to air on Cartoon Network, its streaming home will be Max. But, as we wait for its release, we can enjoy the pup's past adventures on broadcast via MeTV Toons. The TV network is the only one devoted solely to classic animation. Starting Tuesday, June 25, we'll be able to catch reruns of Scooby's various shows throughout the week. Here's the schedule as reported by TVLine!

  • Weekdays: 6 p.m. ET, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
  • Saturdays: 10 a.m. ET, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
  • Sundays: 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. ET, Scooby-Doo Sunday Specials

On June 30, the Sunday specials will kick off with The New Scooby-Doo Movies, a television series that aired from 1972-1973 on CBS. Each episode features a special celebrity guest or a known animated character that joins Scooby and the gang as they solve mysteries.

If you've cut the cord, or don't have access to broadcast TV, you'll be able to watch MeTV Toons on ad-supporting streaming services like Frndly TV. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote for more news and coverage!
