Unsurprisingly, Kyle mistreated Summer on The Young and the Restless. He's behaved disrespectfully toward his mother for months and spitting the same vengeful venom at his father when dropping the Glissade bomb.

Summer did not need to be reminded that she was not Harrison's biological mother. But the man seems to have forgotten that his longtime love and recent ex-wife fully embraced the son he had with Tara Locke.

So, it was natural for Kyle to see Summer as a threat to his ego when she announced that custody issues need to be explored. Being blind to arrogance is typical when unbridled rage rules one's mind and heart.

Tara Locke is Harrison Abbott's biological mother

The tawdry affair Kyle was involved in served to introduce Harrison Locke, now Harrison Abbott, to the audience. Devoted viewers know that Tara Locke's invention also included the introduction of Ashland Locke. That connected character was written into a separate storyline that involved major dramatics with the Newman family and his eventual accidental death.

Tara made a connection with Michael Mealor's character when he was off-screen in New York. A clever use of Kyle's cousin, Theo Vanderway, had Tyler Johnson return to the cast two years after he left to purposefully let Kyle know he had an son in the Empire State.

Seeking Victor Newman's bait

Jack warned his revived nemesis, Victor, not to go after the Abbott family. The Mustache denied doing so and called the man he loathes a bad father. The audience knows that Victor is pursuing his umpteenth vendetta. Many of those have been waged against Jack, with most succeeding. This time, as has been true on some occasions, Kyle is the tool of choice.

Jack has not treated Kyle badly. Like Diane and Summer, Jack has been trying to manage Kyle's increasing volatility. Victor's accurate sense of Abbott tension and his triangulation calculations make the Glissade effort rather clever.

Kyle Abbott's distracted arrogance leaves him vulnerable

Summer now has an opportunity, especially as a member of the Newman side in this expanding battle, to strike against Kyle. She is not using Harrison as Kyle thinks, but that young man stands to suffer if his parents are drawn into their latest emotionally based soapy skirmish.

Kyle believes, generally rightly, that he holds the genetic cards. But his returned penchant for impulsive behavior makes it more likely than not that he will stumble. If that happens publicly or in a way that Summer can prove, custody rights could become arguably even.

Intending to eventually box out Audra while stymieing Summer could produce an alliance between the ladies. While they aren't destined to be friends, their common enemy, Kyle, faces a doubling of his opposition. Meanwhile, Jack and Diane will employ a tough love strategy to extract Kyle from Victor's clutches. The situation will also depend on whether Kyle loses his legal grip on Harrison.

An accurate outcome can't be foreseen, making this storyline a compelling summer watch for all devoted fans. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote for more The Young and the Restless news and coverage! New episodes stream on Paramount+.
