911's move to ABC has been a boon for the network as its been able to launch the procedural's seventh season to great success. From a three episode premiere arc that increasingly pulled in viewers with each new episode to Buck's long awaited self-discovery that he's bisexual and Maddie/Chimney's wedding storyline that didn't quite go off without a hitch but nonetheless saw the two married, the season has been quite the ride.

The scripted drama is a week out from its finale and fans are already anticipating what its eighth season might bring since it got the greenlight back in April. However, if there was any hope for a crossover with its spin-off 911: Lone Star it looks like its been dashed. When asked whether viewers can expect the two shows to collide in the 2024-2025 season, President of Disney Television Group Craig Erwich told TVLine that he's "not aware" that there are any plans for a crossover.

Sure, that could change but it doesn't sound promising. It was already difficult doing crossovers when the series were both on FOX, largely because they're set in disparate parts of the U.S. There's only so many ways you can spin LA-based firefighters mixing it up with their Texas counterparts. Still, when the two programs do cross, it's been a joy for the fandom.

Now that they're no longer on the same network, it's quite possible that their days of crossing over could be done which is sad since it's only happened twice so far. While we can't completely rule out even a minor cross like a Zoom call or one or two of the characters making a cameo, it doesn't seem like it's going to happen in the coming TV year at least.

But still, the fandom can rejoice that the flagship and Lone Star will be returning for the Fall 2024 tv season. That'll be a first for the franchise as the spin-off had traditionally been saved for the midseason on FOX. It is, however, going to be the lead-in for the network's new Hawaii-set lifeguard drama, Rescue HI-Surf, and will kick off the week by airing Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.

ABC has kept 911 in its Thursday 8 p.m. slot though its line-up will look slightly different. It's now the lead-in for the new Ryan Murphy medical drama Doctor Odyssey and Grey's Anatomy will air in the 10 p.m. slot, taking over for Station 19 which will end its run during the 2024-2025 season.

We'll keep you posted as more news comes in for the 911 franchise. Who knows, maybe next TV year the flagship will crossover with another ABC series. It did so with The Bachelor in season 7. With another Ryan Murphy series making its debut, we could see more crossovers in the show's future. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote!
