All the Doctor Odyssey guest stars we know so far

Doctor Odyssey is ready to set sail, and the trailer shows the amazing bevy of guest stars about to board the new ABC drama!

Medical dramas are a dime a dozen on TV but ABC’s upcoming Doctor Odyssey is something different. Created by producer Ryan Murphy, the series features Joshua Jackson as Dr. Max Bankman, a once-superstar doctor who nearly died during the COVID-19 pandemic. Max decides to settle for what he thinks is a less stressful job as the doctor on a cruise ship.

Max figures his days will be filled with folks battling seasickness and sunburn. He soon discovers that people have a bad habit of picking a cruise to suffer a serious medical emergency and he has to save them while lacking the resources of a hospital.

The trailer opens by showcasing the fun of Max meeting Captain Robert Massey (Don Johnson) and his nurses, Tristan Silva (Sean Teale) and Avery Morgan (Phillipa Soo). We see the sparks flying between Max and Avery, culminating in a steamy hookup and then the awkward aftermath of having to work together afterward.

There are looks at the emergencies the crew faces, including a beachside rescue, a swimmer falling overboard, and a huge storm. There's also more of the crew dynamics, with Massey emphasizing it's not just about saving lives but not ruining vacations. But bigger is the bevy of big stars making appearances for the series.

Who is guest starring on Doctor Odyssey?

It appears the show is trying to be a new take on The Love Boat. The smash hit 1977-1986 ABC series also took place on a cruise ship and became a hit thanks to the guest stars who’d pop in every episode. They ranged from already famous stars of the time to a few future famous faces like a young Tom Hanks. 

Given his long history of TV shows, it’s no surprise Murphy has called upon a few big names to make appearances, some for just one episode, others for perhaps longer. That means every episode can boast some big guest stars to provide more excitement to the emergencies.

We don’t get details on who’s playing who although Gina Gershon looks to be a fancy rich lady and country music icon Shania Twain dancing with Johnson. We’re likely to get more guest stars announced as the show premieres as the star power promises to make Doctor Odyssey a great trip for TV fans this September.
