America's Got Talent has been entertaining the masses as we all wait for our favorite scripted series to come back. Fall TV is right around the corner which does mean the talent competition is heading into its final stretch of episodes.

Typically, we've been able to count on new episodes airing on Tuesdays and with the live shows having gotten underway in August, it's been must-watch TV for those invested in the variety of acts that have graced the stage. Tonight, however, NBC's longtime staple won't be airing a new episode at 8 p.m. ET like usual.

It's Sept. 10 which means the awaited debate between presidential candidates Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump is set to air in America's Got Talent's place. Though the debate is being hosted by ABC News, NBC, CBS, FOX and more major networks will be breaking into their regularly scheduled programming to cover the event.

The debate starts at 9 p.m. but NBC will be airing a special at 8 p.m. titled Debate Countdown: Harris v. Trump. The one-hour program likely is primed to focus on what questions might be asked of the candidates, how their campaigns may be affected by their performance, and the general attitude or mood of the electorate going into this event.

As for the debate itself, it's expected to be 90 minutes with fallout coverage to follow. The network will switch to local programming at 11:30 p.m. before a new episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs at 11:34 p.m.

When does America's Got Talent return with new episodes?

Thankfully, you won't have to wait until next week for the semi-finals. They'll air Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. 12 acts are set to take the stage but America will only be able to send six onto the finale . The network isn't holding the results episode until next week either. The audience both live and at home will find out which six acts will be in the finale on Thursday, Sept. 12 starting at 8 p.m.

Next week marks America's Got Talent season 19's finale run with the Top 10 acts going head-to-head in the hopes they'll walk away the winner(s) with $1 million dollars to their name(s). You won't want to miss it! If you need to catch up, the talent competition streams on Peacock.
