Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively will return for A Simple Favor 2 (Everything to know)

Based on the 2017 novel of the same name, A Simple Favor follows Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick), a mom vlogger who knows all the gossip in her small town. At Stephanie's son's school, she meets Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) since their sons are best friends. Stephanie and Emily hit it off, quickly becoming friends. But just as fast as they become friends, Emily goes missing.

A Simple Favor, directed by Paul Feig, also stars Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Linda Cardellini, Jean Smart, and others. The movie is rated R for language throughout, drug use, sexual content, some graphic nude images, and violence. This is one of my favorite movies as it blends crime-thriller with comedy perfectly! Not to mention, it features such a fun and talented cast. However, I don't know if a sequel is necessary. I feel like the characters all had a proper ending. But don't get me wrong, I'm still going to watch it, especially because Kendrick and Lively are both returning. It's also great to know that Feig is returning to direct the sequel.

According to Variety, A Simple Favor 2 will see Stephanie and the return of Emily on the island of Capri, Italy. Now, we're not sure why Emily is out of prison. But we also don't know how much time has passed. What we do know, thanks to the source, is that Emily is on the island to marry a rich Italian businessman in a very extravagant wedding. Because it's not Emily if it's not glamorous. Also present at the wedding, are secrets, betrayal, and murder, oh my!

Who else is set to star in the movie? Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, and Kelly McCormack will reprise their roles. A report from Deadline also shares that Elena Sofia Ricci, Michele Morrone, Elizabeth Perkins, Alex Newell, Taylor Ortega, Lorenzo de Moor, and Aparna Nancherla will also join the cast.

Deadline does not have a release date for the movie, but production hopes to start working on the movie this spring. A Simple Favor 2 will not premiere in theaters. Instead, it will stream exclusively on Prime Video. Stay tuned for more details as they surface!
