After months of waiting, Bob’s Burgers is back. It feels like forever since the Belchers have graced our screens.

Let’s just be honest and acknowledge that part of that is due to the 2023 strikes. The show didn’t produce as many episodes for Season 14 so it makes sense to have them spaced out but 2 months is a long time.

Thankfully, the show is streaming on Hulu so there was plenty of content to enjoy but there’s something comforting about getting new episodes. Since the episodes are one-offs, we don’t need them to move the plot forward which makes 2 months not as big of a deal. Either way, we’re here to break down the episode which is called “Jade in the Shade.” Kinda sounds like it could be a Taylor Swift lyric but we’ll see how the Belchers handle it.

Here’s what happened on “Jade in the Shade” on Bob’s Burgers

The episode begins with Louise being excited about going on a bootlegger tour with Linda. It seems promising until Logan and Cynthia show up. While at the restaurant, Bob, Gene, and Tina end up having to host some entertainers from down at the Wharf and it even attracts Teddy to the restaurant. The entertainers decide to use everyone in the restaurant to help figure out who gets the spot.

The tour guide explains that there’s a jade jellyfish that has never been found in the hotel as he died before he could share. Louise figures out one of the clues from Slippery Sam and Linda is hesitant but agrees. Unfortunately, Logan overhears Louise telling Linda so he and Cynthia want to get there first.

Linda calls Bob and he isn’t excited about the idea but Linda wants to bond with Louise. Louise ends up seeing Logan and Cynthia so she tricks them but it ends up backfiring. Linda tells her that the jellyfish is probably gone and Louise realizes that Linda didn't actually believe the jellyfish was there.

Louise is able to convince Linda that she needs to go look while the entertainers end up coming up with a schedule for the spot. Even though it's dangerous, Louise ends up figuring out where the jade jellyfish is and Mr. Fischoeder ends up taking it. Sadly, the jellyfish isn't actually jade but quartz. The episode ends with Mr. Fischoeder giving Louise a cut of the sale.

Was "Jade in the Shade" worth the almost two-month wait?

When it comes to waiting for episodes, we rarely have to wait this long for Bob's Burgers. Maybe it's due to Fox's stacked lineup or lack of episodes. Either way, "Jade in the Shade" was a really fun episode and one I definitely think was worth the wait.

It was nice to see Louise and Linda team up together. I just adore seeing these two go on an adventure and also for Louise to be right. While it didn't end up being exactly what she had envisioned, it was still a good adventure. Plus we got to see Logan and Cynthia get what they deserve which is eating raisins under the Wharf.

My only complaint is that I wish we would have more scenes of Linda and Louise together. I think they're such an underrated duo. However, I did enjoy a bit of comic relief we got from the rest of the family and the Wharf entertainment showdown.

Bob's Burgers airs Sundays on Fox at 9/8c.
