Mission Impossi-Bob is a ridiculous but fun episode of Bob's Burgers
Bob's Burgers is making its triumph return to start the New Year and 2024 already seems so much better with the Belchers.
Despite the fact that we aren't getting as many episodes as usual, the show has yet to disappoint. Maybe it's due to the lack of episodes or the crew picking and choosing but Season 14 truly feels like a breath of fresh air.
Hopefully, that's a trend we'll see continue into later seasons but we're getting ahead of ourselves as we're here to talk about "Mission Impossi-Bob," which is the first Bob's Burgers episode of 2024.
If you haven't watched this episode yet, then you will be spoiled from this point on and this is your spoiler warning so let's get into "Mission Impossi-Bob."
Missed Mission Impossi-Bob? We've got you.
The episode begins with the Belcher family in the restaurant together until Bob gets a call from Teddy saying he's stuck underground and needs Bob's help. Teddy explains that he has a new client who is somewhat eccentric and that he's stuck in a safe because a bunch of sheet metal is in front of the door.
Bob eventually finds Teddy's truck parked and calls him to hopefully find out more info. Even though Teddy was blindfolded, he tells Bob to make a right turn and then drive for a bit, make another right turn, and Teddy shares that Gerald was listening to a song so Bob decides to use it as a clue. While at the restaurant, the kids try to get a basketball team to order the Beef Hemoth.
Bob goes the way Teddy says but the path has three different options to go down and Bob decides to go look for tire tracks while the rest of the family tries to cook that massive burger. Bob gets a driver to stop and recognizes a scent that Teddy mentioned to him so he's able to find a house and get Teddy out.
Teddy tries to get Bob to leave which is fine until Gerald shows up. Teddy is successfully able to hide Bob due to Bob's idea and the episode ends with the family having to eat the rest of the Beef Hemoth the kids and Linda made.
"Mission Impossi-Bob" is absurd fun on Bob's Burgers.
Looking back at the episode, on the whole, there is one word that comes to mind and that's absurd. I mean there was no way Bob would be able to find Teddy yet he does. It's such a unique plotline but one that Bob's Burgers can only pull off. Coupled with Bob's stroke of genius at the very end, it was ridiculous but in the best way. I mean I can't think of anyone else who could find their best friend that way.
As for the B plotline, the Beef Hemeoth is one of my favorites the show has ever done. I mean I can't even imagine the Belchers kids dreaming this up. However, the three of them wanted to do it and were able to pull it off without Bob which is impressive. Coupled with the fact that Linda was totally on board was just great.
All in all, this isn't an episode I'll be revisiting but the plotlines are memorable which is always something to note. Overall, I think this was such a fun one to start off 2024 with and one that I think a lot of Bob's Burgers fans will enjoy.
Bob's Burgers airs on Sundays on Fox at 9/8c.
