Remember, the big question hanging over Fire Country season 2---Will Bode get out of jail? Well, episode 9, "No Future, No Consequences," just answered it! After nearly two seasons the Three Rock firefighter isn't going to be out of prison orange very, very soon. As in by the season finale!

The penultimate episode ended with Vince getting word that the Lazarus campaign fire division chief put in an extraordinary conduct act credit for Bode after he'd saved his father's life. See, Vince, who was forced to let Bode know about his heart condition once Gabriela told him, had ended up trapped with another firefighter in a blaze. Sharon learned of his health issue as they were all rallying to mount a rescue.

With no choice but to go in after his father, Bode went charging through the blaze with his best friend, Jake, to save Vince and the other firefighter. This feat of bravery, which could have easily ended with Bode and Jake losing their lives, was deemed heroic enough for the state of California to shave 12 months off of Bode's sentence. He only had 11 months left to serve, so his time in prison is over.

The joyous moment was immediately celebrated by the Leones, Eve, and the Three Rock crew. With Bode granted release, we can expect that the finale, "I Do," will be a game changer. There will be no more what ifs once it comes to the hero being out of jail. Vince said he hadn't disclosed what was going on with his health because he was worried that it would mean the end of his career, and he wouldn't get to work with his son. Now he could have the opportunity to do so like he's always dreamed.

And Gabriela, well she knows a thing or two about waiting for Bode. While she is still planning to walk down the aisle as we head into the finale, the reality of her past love being a free man might complicate that decision. After all, the two did share a kiss at the campaign fire. She declared it a mistake but her resolve to choose with her head instead of her heart has steadily been weakening the more time she's spent with him.

That's saying something since the two haven't really had many moments this season because Gabriela had made a point of keeping Bode at arms length. She told him that she loves him and that she see's him as family, but it was meant to be platonic. Romance may reenter the equation now that Bode is a viable option.

Next week's finale has been described as "heart-wrenching," so I suspect that while there are moments of joy, we can anticipate a tearjerker of a moment. Hopefully, it doesn't have anything to do with what's going on with Manny as he's got a warrant for his arrest despite being cleared to continue working as a Cal Fire firefighter after punching Luke. And, we may not be out of the woods yet with Vince's heart. But, at least we're going into "I Do" with Bode's future looking bright on the show.
