The CBS Friday schedule looks very different on March 22, 2024 (What's on instead?)

It's basketball season, and that means entertainment needs to move out of the way for a little bit in the next couple of weeks. And unfortunately Friday night CBS fans, that means us. No new episodes of SWAT, Fire Country, or Blue Bloods will air on Friday, March 22, 2024. And I'm sorry to keep the bad news going, but new episodes of the shows will be skipped next week on Friday, March 29 as well.

This is to make room for the first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship starting at 8 p.m. ET on March 22. The event will feature Vermont vs. Duke and James Madison vs. Wisconsin. These are two separate games, and each will go for about two hours. That means from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET, there's no room for our favorite shows and the time for March Madness takes up the whole schedule. The same will happen next week on March 29 with the Regional Semifinal starting at 8 p.m. as well. The basketball broadcast has affected Thursday night shows on the network too, including Young Sheldon season 7.

• Airing instead: NCAA Men's Basketball Championship at 8 p.m. ET

Don't worry, in a couple of weeks we'll be back to our regularly scheduled programming! SWAT season 7 episode 7 will air on April 5, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET. The final season has been a great one so far, and we keep getting closer to the end with every new episode. The episode title and synopsis have not been released yet. Though check out the promo above!

Next up at 9 p.m. ET, we've got Fire Country season 2 episode 5, "The Storm Will Pass." The installment features the station 42 crew facing an "extremely rare and dangerous fire tornado" that "leaves lives in peril, per the synopsis." It's their job to protect Edgewater, while trying to protect themselves so they can help others. The show has been a success on CBS, already renewed for a third season!

Finally to end the night is Blue Bloods season 14 episode 5, airs at 10 p.m. ET. No synopsis or episode title have been shared at this time. The final season of the police procedural has a total of 18 episodes, split into two parts. The first 10 will continue to air until May, with the final eight premiering in fall 2024.
