CBS TV schedule for the week of March 4: What's new and what's been preempted?
If you're a fan of CBS shows, this week - the week of March 4 - is going to look a bit different than what we're used to. That's because depending on the day, there will be new episodes of some of our favorite comedies and dramas, while other programs have been either completely removed from the schedule or will air reruns. There's a few reasons for that.
For example on Tuesday, March 5, two of the FBI shows will air reruns each, with the third in the franchise preempted for political coverage for Super Tuesday. This is the day in the U.S. when the most number of states hold primary election and caucuses for the presidential election.
This will be followed by the State of the Union address from President Joe Biden on Thursday, March 7. That means there will be no new episodes of So Help Me Todd season 2 or the new series Elsbeth. However, you can expect new episodes of some other fan-favorites We shared a full breakdown of this week's schedule for you below:
Monday, March 4, 2024
For whatever reason, CBS has decided to give The Neighborhood's block to Bob Heart's Abishola to air an extra episode of the latter's show. And so, a new episode of The Neighborhood season 6 won't be happening. Instead, we're getting two new ones of Abishola.
- Preempted: The Neighborhood season 6, new episode Monday, March 11
- New: Bob Heart's Abishola season 5, two episodes at 8 p.m. ET and 8:30 p.m. ET
- New: NCIS season 21 at 9 p.m. ET
- New: NCIS: Hawai'i season 3 at 10 p.m. ET
Tuesday, March 5 (Super Tuesday)
If you've been a long-time broadcast TV fan, then you know that political coverage takes over every once in a while. And that's going to happen on March 5, 2024 since it's Super Tuesday. The usual line-up we have are all going to be either reruns or not airing at all to make room for CBS News: America Decides: Super Tuesday.
- Rerun: FBI season 6 at 8 p.m. ET
- Rerun: FBI: International season 3 at 9 p.m. ET
- Preempted: FBI: Most Wanted season 5
- Special: CBS News: America Decides: Super Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET
Wednesday, March 6
- New: Survivor 46 at 8 p.m. ET
Thursday, March 7 (State of the Union)
Thursday is another important political coverage day with the U.S. President providing an address to the nation. And CBS will be covering it. The good news is that there will still be new episodes of Young Sheldon and Ghosts. But, that does mean So Help Me Todd and Elsbeth get pushed.
- New: Young Sheldon season 7 at 8 p.m. ET
- New: Ghosts season 3 at 8:30 p.m. ET
- Special: State of the Union at 9 p.m. ET
- Preempted: So Help Me Todd season 2, new episode March 14
- Preempted: Elsbeth, new episode April 4
Friday, March 8
On Friday and Sunday this week, it's not 100% clear why the network decided to skip airing new episodes for its shows. It's likely that CBS wants them all to have their series finales at around the same time in May 2024 to kind of get back on track after strike delays. There will also be two new back-to-back episodes of S.W.A.T!
- New: S.W.A.T. season 7, two episodes at 8 p.m. ET and 9 p.m. ET
- Preempted: Fire Country season 2, new episode March 15
- Rerun: Blue Bloods season 14 at 10 p.m. ET, new episode March 15
Sunday, March 10
Sundays are usually days for The Equalizer, Tracker, and CSI: Vegas. This week though, all of the dramas are on break and instead there will be two hours of 60 Minutes starting at 7 p.m. ET. This will be followed up by two hours of reruns of So Help Me Todd at 9 p.m. ET.
- Preempted: The Equalizer season 4, new episode March 17
- Preempted: Tracker, new episode March 17
- Preempted: CSI: Vegas season 3, new episode March 17
- Airing instead: 60 Minutes at 7 p.m. ET and 8 p.m. ET
- Airing instead: So Help Me Todd at 9 p.m. ET - 11 p.m. ET
